Dr. Michael Kern to Leave Volkswagen Board of Management
Wolfsburg, 09 January 2008 - Dr. Michael Kern (52), Member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand and General Representative of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, will leave the company at his own request on March 31, 2008.
Dr. Kern held various posts at the former Volkswagen subsidiary Europcar International from 1996 to 2003, latterly as Chief Executive Officer. He continued the company’s international expansion and positioned it as an innovation leader. He subsequently moved to become Chairman of the Board of Management of Kamps AG.
Dr. Kern returned to Volkswagen at the end of 2004, and was initially appointed to the Board of Management of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles with responsibility for sales and marketing. In January 2006, he moved to Wolfsburg become a Member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand and General Representative of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, holding responsibility for sales, marketing and after-sales.
The company would like to thank Dr. Kern for his services over the past years and wishes him every success in his future career.
A decision regarding a successor will be taken at a later date.
