UAW Local 6000 Reaches Agreement with the State of Michigan
Friday, October 19, 2007, Lansing, Mich. -- UAW Local 6000 and the State of Michigan have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor contract.
"This agreement recognizes the contribution our members make to vital public services in the state of Michigan," said UAW Vice President Jimmy Settles, who directs the union's Technical, Office and Professional (TOP) Department. "It will help move us all forward during a critical period for state government."
The three-year agreement, reached on Friday, Oct. 19, must be approved by a vote of the membership. Contract details will be provided to union members, by mail, prior to a ratification vote.
UAW Local 6000 represents 17,000 State of Michigan employees in human services and administrative support, including workers in every department of state government and in every county of the state.
