Toyota Motor North America Announces New Corporate Manager of Philanthropy
November 20, 2007 – New York – Toyota Motor North America, Inc. (TMA) announced today that Helen Dorado Alessi has joined the company as corporate manager of philanthropy and the Toyota USA Foundation. TMA, wholly owned by Toyota Motor Corporation, is the holding company for Toyota's U.S. sales and manufacturing companies. Headquartered in New York, it has offices in Washington, D.C. and Miami, Fla.
Ms. Dorado Alessi will have responsibility for the development and implementation of Toyota's U.S. philanthropy strategy, including the Toyota USA Foundation. She will report to Patricia Pineda, group vice president, legal, philanthropy and administration at TMA.
Ms. Dorado Alessi joins Toyota from the Edwin Gould Foundation, where she has worked since 1988, most recently as vice president. The Edwin Gould Foundation, a New York-based grant making institution, is dedicated to funding leading edge organizations that provide innovative solutions to closing the achievement gap for underserved youth.
Ms. Dorado Alessi is an experienced Latina leader in the philanthropic community. She currently serves as secretary and member of the board for Hispanics in Philanthropy and is vice-chair of the New York Regional Association of Grantmakers. Additionally, she is an active volunteer for the National Hispanic Leadership Institute, the Long Beach City Council Advisory Board and the Long Beach Hispanic Civic Association.
A native of New York, Ms. Dorado Alessi earned her B.A. from St. Francis College and holds a master's degree in Public Policy from Bernard M. Baruch College of Public Affairs (City University of New York).

Toyota's primary philanthropic focus areas are the environment, education and safety. In 2006 the company contributed nearly $40 million to non-profit organizations and programs in the U.S. Toyota's cumulative U.S. giving since 1991 now tops $340 million.
