May 2008 -- Volvo Cars came out top in Britain's Power of Aluminium Awards for the company's new load-anchoring system installed in the new 2008 Volvo XC70 and 2008 Volvo V70. "The system with its embedded eyelets is unique. It means a lot to Volvo Cars that we have won this award," says Karin Lejonbäck, group manager at the Interior & Climate department.

Set into the floor of the luggage compartment of the new XC70 and V70 are load rails made of aluminium. Running in the rails are four sliding hooks or eyelets that are used to secure cargo.

April 17, 2008 -- The 2008 Volvo XC70 has been voted Car of the Year in Russia - again. For the second time in three years, Volvo Car's image-booster has taken first prize in the "Estate Car with Off-Road Capability" category. The Car of the Year award in the world's largest country is a true people's competition. A total of 104,722 people voted in 19 different categories this year, the eighth time the competition has been held.

Feb 20, 2008 -- With worldwide sales totalling 458,323 cars, Volvo Cars increased its total global sales by 7.4 percent compared with 2006 - a record-breaking result. The old record was set in 2004 when Volvo Cars sold 456,244 units. The biggest volume increase was achieved in Northern Europe, Russia and China.

Volvo Cars Reports January 2008 Sales Increase of 2.8 Percent

IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 1, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. (VCNA) reports U. S. sales increased 2.8 percent* compared to January of last year. For the period, 8,036 units were sold.

The Volvo XC70 has resonated well with the media as well as consumers. The sales for Volvo's crossover continue to be strong.

Overall in North America, Volvo sales were down in Canada (-12.1 percent) and Mexico (-23.9 percent), with 501 and 181 units sold, respectively.

Volvo Cars Reports Sales Up 9.6 Percent for December 2007

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. (VCNA) reports increased sales in the United States of 9.6 percent for December, compared to same period last year. For the year U.S. sales were down 8.4 percent, with a total of 106,354 units sold. *

Volvo sales of the all-new Volvo XC70 and Volvo V70 made a strong showing as those recently introduced models rolled into showrooms. The all-new S80 and the XC90 were also significant sales leaders.

Ranging from the all-new Volvo XC70 to a high-performance version of the Volvo S80 T6, an eye-popping Volvo C30 to a Volvo C70 convertible, and a one-off fully custom hot rod, this year marks Volvo Cars most ambitious SEMA effort ever.

Four of the concepts are based on production versions of the Volvo XC70, the S80 T6, the C70 Convertible and the C30, while the fifth car is a built-from-the-ground-up, totally custom hot rod using major Volvo components from the previous-generation S80.
