The Volkswagen Touareg clinches the number-two ranking among luxury off-roaders

Wolfsburg, 20 February 2008 - The readers of OFF ROAD, a German trade journal, have given the SUV of the Year prize to the Volkswagen Tiguan. Attracting 17.4 % of the votes, the VW Tiguan emerged as the readers’ choice among the 20 nominated vehicles, ahead of its second and third-placed rivals the BMW X3 and the Land Rover Freelander. In the exceptionally prestigious category of Luxury Off-Roaders, the Volkswagen Touareg won the number-two ranking amidst a field of eleven rivals for the award in this category.

Sporty combination of rugged design and sophisticated materials

Wolfsburg, 25 January 2008 - The Volkswagen Individual product offensive proceeds to the next round; the elegant but sporty R-Line accessory package was recently also made available for the Volkswagen Touareg. The “Exterieur” and “Plus” packages include a range of sporty design features and can be ordered individually or together as desired.

The R-Line "Plus" package comprises 20-inch Omanyt-type alloy wheels, a four-spoke multifunctional leather steering wheel, aluminium pedals featuring the R logo and sports-style seats with nappa leather trim. Prices for this package of optional extras for the Touareg start at €5,350.

Wolfsburg / Essen, 30 November 2007 -- At the 2007 Essen Motor Show, three more new products will appear together under the spotlights. Two of them are world premieres, and the third is a European debut. World premiere 1: the RaVe 270 concept car – the most powerful Golf Variant of all times. 198 kW / 270 PS and 250 km/h are its key performance indicators. Its technical features include full-time all-wheel drive and a 1,400 Watt sound system of the prestige class. The sound package is controlled via a new hard-drive navigation system from Volkswagen – so far a unique combination.

Wolfsburg, 15 October 2007 - The Volkswagen brand delivered 8.2 percent more vehicles to customer worldwide during the first nine months of this year than during the same period in 2006. The brand sold a total of 2.73 million vehicles during the period January – September, delivering 327,000 vehicles in September alone, which corresponded to a 7.6 percent rise in sales compared with September 2006.

Wolfsburg, 04 October 2007 - The second leg of its museum tour around the world now takes the Volkswagen Touareg Stanley to sunny springtime South Africa. Having completed the first part of the tour in Singapore, Stanley will now be on display at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Johannesburg, the country’s commercial capital.
