Thomas Ulbrich Appointed to Board of Management of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles

Wolfsburg / Hanover, 19 August 2008 -- Thomas Ulbrich (42) has been named Board of Management member for production at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles with effect from September 1, 2008. He takes over the production division from Dirk Grosse-Loheide (44), who remains Board of Management member for procurement and logistics. Grosse-Loheide also became responsible for production in 2007.

Hans-Peter Stalf becomes new plant manager in Brunswick

Brunswick / Chattanooga, 19 August 2008 -- Frank Fischer (46) has been appointed head of the project team for the new Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga (USA) with effect from October 1, 2008. He is thus also the designated plant manager of the factory in the US State of Tennessee. His successor as plant manager in Brunswick will be Hans-Peter Stalf (52).

Volkswagen Group Delivers 3.27 Million Vehicles Worldwide in First Six Months of 2008

Worldwide deliveries developed better than overall market

Wolfsburg, 21 July 2008 - The Volkswagen Group delivered 3.27 million vehicles worldwide (+5.8 percent) from January to June 2008, the highest figure ever for the first six months of a year. Group worldwide deliveries in June also reached a new record: compared with the same period last year, the number of vehicles delivered rose by 2.4 percent to 573,000. As a result, the development of deliveries by the Group both for the period January to June and for the month of June was significantly better than developments on the overall market (+1 percent from January to June and -5.1 percent in June).

Wolfsburg / Chattanooga, 15 July 2008 - Volkswagen is setting out to build a plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where vehicle production will be due to commence in early 2011. The supervisory board of Volkswagen AG today approved the plans and an investment volume of up to 1 billion USD (around 620 million euro). The Group’s management board had previously pinpointed Chattanooga as the site for its new plant. “The USA market,” said Prof Martin Winterkorn, CEO of Volkswagen AG, “is an important part of our volume strategy and we are now very resolutely accessing that market. Volkswagen will be extremely active there.”

Wolfsburg, 17 July 2008 -- The Volkswagen Group has received the antitrust approvals necessary to acquire a majority voting stake in Swedish truck manufacturer Scania AB. The majority voting stake is expected to be acquired on July 22, 2008. In addition to the approval by the European Commission, a large number of antitrust proceedings were required in other countries worldwide.

Best Overall Sales Month Since August 2006

HERNDON, Va., July 1, 2008 -- Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced June 2008 sales of 23,208 units, a 0.3 percent increase over the June 2007 sales of 23,137 vehicles. On a year-to-date basis, 2008 Volkswagen sales remain 0.6 percent ahead of 2007 sales through June.

June reflects Volkswagen's best sales month since August 2006. The Volkswagen Passat wagon had its best sales month since January 2007 with sales up 25.9 percent over June 2007. Volkswagen's innovative coupe-convertible-sunroof Volkswagen Eos continues to be a summertime top-seller with sales of 1,632 unites, up 14 percent over last June.

Research project AKTIV: Intelligent cars set to revolutionise safety as AKTIV partners research for a safer future

Wolfsburg, 25 June 2008 - Leading companies from the automotive industry as well as from the telecommunications and software development sector are today presenting their results at the halfway stage in one of Germany’s most important road safety projects - AKTIV. The declared aim of this research initiative launched back in September 2006 and running until August 2010 is to prevent accidents in future by further enhancing active safety, relieving drivers and harmonising traffic flows. Volkswagen AG is one of the partners of the initiative sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.

Volkswagen Group Sets New Delivery Record for the period January to May 2008

2.7 Million vehicles delivered worldwide – increase of 6.6 percent

Wolfsburg, 26 June 2008 - The Volkswagen Group sold 2.69 million vehicles worldwide from January to May 2008. This represents an increase of 6.6 percent compared with the same period last year and is yet another new delivery record. Group deliveries increased by 2.0 percent to 553,400 vehicles in May. As a result, the development of deliveries by the Group was significantly better than developments on the world market, where deliveries were down 2.9 percent in May and up 2.3 percent for the period January to May.
