PPG Acquires NanoProducts Corporation

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 11, 2008 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has acquired the assets and intellectual property of NanoProducts Corporation, Longmont, Colo., a producer of nanoproduct materials and a developer of nanoproduct technology. Terms were not disclosed.
The nanoparticle technology company has an extensive patent estate and operates pilot facilities for the development and manufacture of unique nanoparticles.

DuPont Licenses Breakthrough 'EcoConcept' Automotive Coating Technology to Bollig & Kemper
Helps Automakers Reduce Crucial Energy and Capital Costs
WILMINGTON, Del., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire - FirstCall/ -- Bollig & Kemper, a German manufacturer of coatings for the European auto industry, has signed a license agreement for DuPont EcoConcept, a patented coatings technology that enables auto manufacturers to realize substantial reductions in energy use, environmental emissions and capital costs.
Under the license agreement, the Cologne-based paint maker will manufacture and sell water-based basecoats for use in the EcoConcept process at automotive manufacturing plants in Germany and elsewhere in Europe.
PPG Launches ‘Green’ ZIRCOBOND Pretreatment
TROY, Mich., Jan. 15, 2008 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has announced the launch of a new, environmentally-responsible automotive pretreatment technology at CAMI Automotive’s production facility in Ingersoll, Ont., Canada. CAMI, an independently incorporated joint venture of Suzuki Motor Corporation and General Motors of Canada Ltd., began processing vehicles with Zircobond pretreatment in early January and moved to full-scale production Jan. 14.
Metal pretreatment cleans and provides corrosion protection to automotive body surfaces. However, traditional zinc-phosphate pretreatment processes generate sludge containing heavy metals such as nickel, zinc and manganese, making them subject to environmental regulations.
PPG to Acquire Brown Brothers from Unipart Automotive
Company strengthens growing presence in Europe
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 17, 2007 – PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG), through a European subsidiary, has agreed to purchase the bodyshop distribution business of Unipart Automotive. The transaction is expected to close on or about Jan. 31, 2008. The business will operate as a subsidiary of PPG under the name Brown Brothers Distribution UK Ltd. Financial terms were not disclosed.
