The four major emerging countries Brazil, China, India and Russia will increase their share of the global car production from 14% at present to 20% in 2013.

Regensburg, January 18, 2008 -- A weak battery can easily give drivers a nasty surprise in the morning, particularly when temperatures drop: The car won’t start, because the starter doesn’t receive the needed power. The Intelligent Battery Sensor from Continental provides early warning when a battery is running down due to age, thereby preventing breakdowns. To accomplish this, it constantly determines the exact charge status of the vehicle battery. The sensor will go into series production in 2008. The sensor will then also help to reduce fuel consumption.

The one millionth VDO DTCO 1381 came off the production line on January 17, 2008

Villingen-Schwenningen, January 17, 2008 -- Continental is celebrating a production milestone: On January 17, 2008, at the Villingen-Schwenningen plant, the one millionth VDO DTCO 1381 digital tachograph came off the production line. The device records driving and rest times electronically, in mass memory and on a chip card. At the same time, the company has also put together a comprehensive service package for all target groups that utilize the device.
