Garmin Nuvi 760 scored best overall; High price tag doesn't always mean better in Consumer Reports largest GPS test group

YONKERS, N.Y., May 5, 2008 /PRNewswire - USNewswire/ -- Despite the influx of several new brands and models, longtime GPS brands -- Garmin, TomTom and Magellan -- are still making the best Global Positioning Systems. The three brands accounted for 16 of the top 20 rated models in the latest tests in Consumer Reports June issue.

After months of in-lab and on-the-road tests of 39 GPS systems, the Garmin Nuvi 760 ($600) rated best with an "Excellent" overall score. CR's experts found the Nuvi 760 to be a good all-around package, easy to use, with intuitive controls, good guidance and a number of advanced features.

Portable Navigation Device Owners Have High Levels of Satisfaction, Despite Experiencing Problems

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., 6 December 2007 — Nearly two-thirds of portable navigation device (PND) owners have experienced a problem, yet 95 percent still say that their device meets or exceeds their expectations, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Portable Navigation Device Usage and Satisfaction StudySM released today.

The inaugural study measures customer satisfaction with automotive portable navigation devices by examining six factors: ease of use, routing, system appearance, speed of system, voice directions and navigation display screen. Consumers report the highest levels of satisfaction for the overall appearance and voice directions, while system speed receives the lowest satisfaction ratings.
