Tata Motors Increases Prices of Passenger Vehicles

2nd June, 2008 -- Tata Motors today announced an increase in the prices of its passenger vehicles. The increase is effective from today, June 2, 2008.

The increase on the Tata Indica, the Tata Indigo and the Tata Indigo Marina is in the range of 1 to 2%. The increase on the Tata Sumo and the Tata Safari is in the range of 2 to 3%.

The price increase was necessitated due to the continuous increase in input costs.

Tata Motors Introduces Tata Indica V2 Xeta LPG

16th May, 2008 -- Tata Motors today announced the launch of the Tata Indica V2 Xeta LPG. The Indica V2 Xeta LPG is equipped with a dual fuel (petrol and LPG) engine, which reduces CO2 emissions by about 10%, while delivering excellent fuel efficiency both in the city and on highways.

The new Xeta LPG comes with a 1.2 litre MPFI engine with two ECUs (Electronic Control Units) in master-slave configuration. It generates a maximum power of 65.3 PS @ 5000 rpm with petrol and an equally peppy 62 PS @ 5000 rpm with LPG. The peak torque of 102Nm @2600 rpm ensures a smooth drive in city conditions. The engine meets BSIII emission norms, but can be upgraded to meet Euro IV norms.

Tata Motors Presents the Tata Nano at the 78th Geneva Motor Show

March 4, 2008 -- Tata Motors today presented at the 78th Geneva Motor Show the Tata Nano, the People’s Car, and three other vehicles, the new generation Tata Indica, the new Tata Safari DICOR 2.2 VTT and the Tata Xenon.

The Nano will first be launched in India later in 2008. The new generation Indica will be launched in the latter part of 2008 in international markets. The Safari DICOR 2.2 VTT and the Xenon have just been introduced in select markets.

January 9, 2008 -- Tata Motors is showcasing a new range of 17 models in cars, utility vehicles, trucks and buses at the 5200-square metre Tata-Fiat pavilion, its largest ever presence at the Auto Expo, being held in New Delhi from January 11-17, 2008.

Tata Motors Reports Total Vehicle Sales for November 2007

December 3, 2007 -- Tata Motors reported a total sale of 46,947 vehicles (including exports) for the month of November 2007, a decline of 4% compared to 49,061 vehicles sold in November last year. Cumulative sales for the company at 3,59,251 nos., grew by 0.3% over last year. The domestic market continues to be sluggish, due to the high interest rate regime, continuing to affect retails.

Commercial Vehicles
The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in November 2007 in the domestic market were 26,895 nos., a growth of 4% compared to 25,793 vehicles sold in November last year. M&HCV sales stood at 14,426 nos, a growth of 0.2% over November 2006, while LCV sales were 12,469 nos., a growth of 10% over November 2006.

Tata Motors Rolls Out Its One Millionth Car Off Indica Platform

November 24, 2007 -- In the presence of Mr. Ratan N. Tata, Chairman of Tata Motors, the company today rolled out the one millionth passenger car off the Indica platform at its Car Plant in Pune, in its ninth year since the commencement of production in January, 1999. While it achieved the 100,000th car in March 2001, and the 500,000th car in February, 2005, the progression from the 900,000th car to the millionth car was achieved in just 7 months.

Starting with the Indica, the company launched the Indigo in 2002, the Indigo Marina in 2004, and the Indigo XL in 2007. The plant started with a capacity of 150,000 p.a., which was subsequently expanded to 225,000 p.a. in 2006.

Tata Motors Launches Tata Indica V2 Turbo with Dual Airbags and ABS

17th October, 2007 -- India’s largest selling diesel car – the Tata Indica V2, has enhanced its Turbo range with a new variant, which packs in the power of the turbo-charged intercooled engine with superior safety features - dual front airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS).

These safety features will be available on the top end Indica V2 Turbo DLX. The Tata Indica range already comes with standard safety features like anti-submarine seats, side-impact beams, front crumple zone, collapsible steering column, energy absorbing bumpers and ELR type seat belts. The car complies with European standards for full-frontal, offset-frontal and rear crash for passenger survivability and has acquired a reputation of being one of the safest hatchback cars on Indian roads.
