Ford Explorer has been the world's best-selling SUV for 15 consecutive years with sales totaling nearly 5.5 million because it adheres to a simple formula: put people first. Since its introduction in 1990, Explorer has defined the SUV segment by offering the capability of an SUV for towing and off-roading, along with innovations in package, comfort and refinement.
Explorer leads a changing segment
An icon in the world of luxury SUVs, Cadillac Escalade is synonymous with style, technology, comfort and performance. For 2013, it continues to offer the most complete lineup in its segment, with three distinct body styles and the Platinum models.
The model range includes the Escalade, the extended-length Escalade ESV and the reconfigurable Escalade EXT.
The Escalade and Escalade ESV are available in AWD and RWD configurations. The Escalade EXT sport-utility truck features standard, full-time AWD. All models are powered by a 6.2L V-8 with efficiency-enhancing continuously variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management technology.
The new 2013 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid
Cadillac’s innovative Escalade Hybrid is the world’s first hybrid full-size luxury SUV. It achieves an EPA-rated 20 miles per gallon in the city – a 50-percent improvement in city fuel economy over the non-hybrid model. It also seats eight, with generous cargo room available with the third-row seat removed.
Escalade Hybrid is powered by an advanced, fuel-saving two-mode hybrid system and offers the same dramatic design, luxury and full-size capability that have made the Escalade an icon. Both are available in RWD and 4WD configurations. They deliver up to 5,800 pounds (2,631 kg) of usable towing capacity on RWD models and 5,600 pounds (2,540 kg) on 4WD models.
The Chevrolet Equinox rolls into 2013 with a new, more powerful 3.6L V-6 engine, Chevrolet MyLink Radio with Navigation, and other features that will help maintain its momentum as one of the most popular small crossovers.
Sales for the first eight months of 2012 were up 16.6 percent, building on sales of more than 193,000 in 2011.
The Equinox seats five and is available in LS, LT (1LT and 2LT trims) and LTZ models, with available all-wheel drive. When equipped with the standard Ecotec 2.4L direct-injected engine, the FWD Equinox achieves an EPA-estimated 32 mpg on the highway.
Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid delivers a dramatic improvement in fuel economy over non-hybrid models – 33-percent in city driving – with the spaciousness and capability customers seek in a full-size SUV. It offers seating for up to eight and a towing capacity of up to 6,200 pounds (2,812 kg) on 2WD models.
The Tahoe Hybrid’s improved fuel economy over gasoline-only models is due largely to GM’s s tate-of-the-art two-mode hybrid system, which helps 2WD Tahoe Hybrid models deliver an estimated 20 mpg in the city. That’s comparable to the city fuel economy of many smaller cars.
New for 2013 are three exterior colors: Champagne Silver Metallic, Concord Metallic (late availability) and Blue Ray Metallic (late availability).
Hybrid system details
Chevrolet Tahoe is a full-size SUV that offers spaciousness – including cargo space of up to 108.9 cubic feet (3,084 liters) – and a towing capability of up to 8,500 pounds (3,855 kg).
The 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe is available in LS, LT, LTZ and Hybrid models, all offered in 2WD and 4WD. Each is built on GM’s full-size SUV platform that features a fully boxed frame, coil-over-shock front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering. Wide front and rear tracks enhance handling and lower the center of gravity for a more confident road feel.
LS, LT and LTZ models are powered by a 5.3L V-8 that uses variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management to optimize performance and efficiency. A fuel-saving Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed is standard on all models and contributes to a 21-mpg EPA highway fuel economy rating, thanks to reduced engine speed. That lower engine speed also helps make the interior quieter.
Introduced in 1935, Chevrolet Suburban is the original SUV and the oldest continuous nameplate in automotive history. Seventy-eight years later, it continues with the same blend of spaciousness and capability that has distinguished it for generations.
For 2013, Suburban is offered in LS, LT and LTZ models – in 2WD and 4WD – as well as half-ton and heavy-duty ¾-ton series. (LTZ is available only on half-ton.) A Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed is standard on half-ton models, optimizing fuel economy on the highway via reduced engine speed. Also, the lower-rpm engine speed on the highway enhances interior quietness.
The new 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup
Chevrolet Avalanche is one of the industry’s most flexible utility vehicles, combining the passenger comfort of a SUV with the cargo capability of a truck, thanks to the exclusive Midgate. The Avalanche rolls into its final year of production in 2013 and is commemorated with the Black Diamond Avalanche. It features body-color bed surrounds, a unique badge on the sail panel of every vehicle produced, additional features on LS and LT models, and lower prices across the lineup.
