The impressive additions to the Leon’s already lithe lines give the turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol- or diesel-engined FR+ looks reminiscent of the brand’s many recent motorsport successes. And that’s no mere coincidence, as the exclusive new Supercopa is constructed by the very same expert engineers at SEAT Sport who have nurtured SEAT’s WTCC title-winning race cars in years gone by.
The new 2012 SEAT Mii city car
Just weeks after its international motor show debut in Geneva the new SEAT Mii 3dr city car is being made available to order in the UK, with prices starting at only £7,845 RRP on the road for the entry-level Mii S 3dr.
The Spanish brand’s exciting return to the growing city car segment – it previously competed in this class in the UK as recently as 2004 with the popular Arosa – comes as SEAT embarks on the most extensive new model offensive in its 26-year history in the UK.
Every element of the Mii’s design is geared towards maximising interior space, and the new SEAT successfully redefines what is possible on such a compact platform. The wheelbase is the joint longest in the class, but this is balanced by tiny front and rear overhangs so as not to jeopardise urban agility.
The new 2012 SEAT Ibiza subcompact
The new generation of SEAT’s most successful car to date is here. The new SEAT Ibiza captures the heart with its young, emotional design and fun-to-drive character, and convinces the head with its innovative technology and improved functionality and quality.
The new line-up offers enormous breadth to meet almost every demand – from the compact and sporty three-door Ibiza SC to the dynamic and universally popular five-door Ibiza and the elegantly practical Ibiza ST estate car, today’s Ibiza has something for everyone.
Extending from the ultra-efficient Ibiza E Ecomotive with 89 g/km of CO2* to the exceptionally sporty Ibiza FR with its muscular 150 PS, the extensive line-up offers impressive performance at every turn.
SEAT’s executive class Exeo saloon and ST estate range is getting a new look, and some important new engineering upgrades.
The revised Exeo ‘face’ with new bi-xenon headlights and stunning LED daytime running lights (standard on Sport, optional on SE), will make its public debut in the metal at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The styling enhancements, boosted by smart new alloy wheel designs, further underline the high value Exeo range’s premium look, while upgrades to interior materials – including upgraded leather on the steering wheel and revised upholstery – create a matching premium feel.
SEAT is upgrading the appeal of its best-selling Leon with the showroom arrival now of a new FR+ derivative, as well as the extension of the FR badge to a broader engine range.
The changes mean the trademark sporty styling and sizzling performance of the Leon FR are now available to a wider range of buyers while equipment- and performance-hungry drivers now have the added option of the new, ‘ultimate’, Leon FR+.
Designed to extend still further the appeal of the FR trim level that, last year, was responsible for a whopping one in four Leon sales, the revisions see new engines added to the FR line-up.
The 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show sees SEAT continue the exciting development of its design DNA with the world debut of the new SEAT IBL concept car.
At Frankfurt the Spanish brand’s unique design language is extended to a sports saloon concept with a dynamic, confident look. The SEAT IBL combines a clean, minimalist exterior with an innovative, premium interior that clearly conveys its quality and precision.
James Muir, President of SEAT, S.A. said: ‘The IBL shows that sports saloons within the SEAT brand portfolio will play an important role in future. However, this concept car does not pre-empt a specific model, but rather shows the design philosophy we are applying to bring the unmistakable SEAT identity to a saloon car, too.’
The elegantly sporty SEAT Exeo saloon and the dynamic Exeo ST estate are set to become the automatic choice for business and private drivers alike with the debut in Paris last year of a new drivetrain option.
Drivers seeking an extra level of refinement, in addition to the Exeo’s established sporting prowess, will find the new continuously variable multitronic gearbox making its Exeo debut in France presents a compelling alternative to the six-speed manual.
This efficient automatic gearbox is mated to the 143 PS (105 kW) 2.0 TDI common rail diesel injection engine. With an average fuel consumption of only 5.8* litres per 100 kilometres (48.7 mpg), this variant combines SEAT’s trademark refined dynamics and high efficiency with classic automatic ease of use.
The new SEAT Leon Cupra R is preparing to roar into UK showrooms becoming, in the process, the most powerful production car yet offered by SEAT UK.
With 265 PS available from its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the fire-breathing new Leon resurrects the iconic Cupra R badge last seen on the sleek Spaniard back in 2006.
More than that, the car also becomes SEAT’s quickest-accelerating model to date with a 0-62 mph time of just 6.2 seconds while the top speed, where legal, of 155 mph is also SEAT’s highest ever ‘flat out’ figure.
SEAT’s Leon Ecomotive showcases cutting edge engineering, including SEAT’s use for the first time of Start/Stop technology and Brake Energy Recovery. The sleek new five-seater underlines the Spanish brand’s determination to make itself a leader in the area of environmentally responsible motoring.
It’s perhaps no surprise, then, that the latest Leon sees its CO2 emissions slashed to just 99 g/km (the same as the original Ibiza Ecomotive) while its combined fuel economy figure of 74.3 mpg gives the Leon a range of almost 900 miles between fill-ups.
Even in town, with an official urban figure of 60.1 mpg, new Leon Ecomotive owners can look forward to far less frequent refuelling stops.
SEAT announces an important addition to the Ibiza range in the shape of the Ibiza FR TDI, available in either sporty SC or practical 5dr bodystyles with prices starting at £16,465 RRP.
The diesel-powered extension to the already impressive Ibiza FR offering underlines SEAT’s commitment to the burgeoning diesel hot hatch class.
The new car’s turbocharged diesel engine is good for a muscular 143 PS – enough to carry it from rest to 62 mph in only 8.2 seconds (8.3 seconds 5dr) and thence onward to a top speed of 130 mph where legal (129 mph 5dr).
Linked as standard to a smooth and precise six-speed manual gearbox the state-of-the-art common rail diesel is fully Euro V-compliant and, in this application, helps the Ibiza to record not only exceptional performance but also remarkable economy.
