Interactive Ad Campaign to Showcase UAW Members
Monday, December 17, 2007 -- UAW members are featured in a new, interactive advertising campaign that debuts today in five Midwest and southeast media markets.
The ads will also appear on a new, interactive Web site, IAmtheUAW.org, which invites UAW members, family members, friends and supporters to submit their own stories, photos, podcasts and videos.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase our members and the contribution our union makes to our communities and workplaces,” said UAW President Ron Gettelfinger. “Nobody represents our organization better than our own members.”
UAW Members Ratify New Contract with International Truck and Engine
Monday, December 17, 2007, Detroit - UAW members at 11 local unions in Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas have voted to ratify a new three-year labor agreement with International Truck and Engine (ITE). Seventy-one percent of workers voted in favor of the new contract in balloting conducted on Sunday, Dec. 16. The agreement settles a strike which began at ITE facilities on Oct. 23 in protest of unfair labor practices.
The pact will cover more than 4,000 UAW members at 11 local unions around the country who make medium- and light-duty truck engines and Navistar medium-duty trucks.
UAW Reaches Tentative Agreement with International Truck and Engine
Wednesday, December 12, 2007 -- UAW negotiators reached a tentative agreement on a three-year contract with International Truck and Engine Corp. (ITE) at 11 a.m. (EST) today.
The pact will cover more than 4,000 UAW members at 11 local unions around the country who make medium- and light-duty truck engines and Navistar medium-duty trucks.
“Our negotiating team did an outstanding job bringing these talks to a successful close,” said UAW Vice President General Holiefield, who directs the union’s Heavy Trucks Department. “They stood up to the company’s demands and came away with an agreement that protects jobs, wages and health care benefits for our membership.”

“The UAW strongly supports this historic bill, which contains aggressive but still achievable fuel economy requirements,” said Gettelfinger. “It will help consumers and the environment, and at the same time protect U.S. jobs.”
UAW, Ford Reach Tentative Agreement on New National Labor Agreement

The United Auto Workers union (UAW) and Ford have reached a tentative agreement on a four-year national labor contract covering approximately 54,000 represented employees in the United States.

UAW Ford National Council Unanimously Recommends Ratification of Proposed Contract
Monday, November 05, 2007, Dearborn, Mich. -- The UAW Ford National Council – made up of delegates from more than 55 Ford facilities across the nation – has voted to unanimously recommend ratification of the 2007 tentative agreement with Ford Motor Co.
The Council met Monday to discuss the details of the proposed agreement with the automaker.
After a presentation on the proposed contract and a detailed question-and-answer session, the council agreed that the agreement covering tens of thousands of UAW Ford workers and retirees and their families is worthy of their unanimous support.
UAW Reaches Rentative Agreement with Ford Motor Company
Saturday, November 03, 2007, DETROIT – UAW negotiators reached a tentative agreement with Ford Motor Co. at 3:20 a.m. today.
“Our bargaining committee came through for our active and retired members,” said UAW President Ron Gettelfinger. “Our team is proud of each and every negotiator because they have encouraged Ford to invest in product and people while addressing the economic needs of our active and retired members.”
“We face enormous challenges – and we also have enormous potential,” said UAW Vice President Bob King, who directs the union’s National Ford Department. “Our goals for this contract were to win new product and investment, to enhance job security and protect seniority – and we made progress in all these areas.”
UAW Members at Chrysler Ratify New Contract
Saturday, October 27, 2007 -- UAW members have voted to ratify a new collective bargaining agreement with Chrysler LLC. The vote was 56 percent in favor of the four-year pact among production workers, and 51 percent in favor among skilled trades workers. Ninety-four percent of office and clerical workers voted in favor of the agreement, and 79 percent of UAW-represented Chrysler engineering workers approved the contract.
The union reached a tentative agreement with Chrysler on Oct. 10, following a six-hour nationwide strike against the company.
UAW Members Strike International Truck and Engine Over Unfair Labor Practices
Tuesday, October 23, 2007, CHICAGO - More than 4,000 UAW members at 11 local unions in six states are on strike as of 5:00 pm today against International Truck and Engine, maker of Navistar trucks, in response to the company’s unfair labor practices.
“International Truck and Engine has shredded our agreement, shipped our work out of the country, and trampled our nation’s labor laws,” said UAW President Ron Gettelfinger. “When UAW members are on strike for justice anywhere, they have the support of UAW members everywhere -- and our entire union is standing shoulder to shoulder with our members at ITE.”
UAW Chrysler Council Gives Overwhelming Approval to Tentative Pact
Monday, October 15, 2007, DETROIT – The UAW Chrysler Council, which includes local union leaders from Chrysler facilities throughout the United States, voted overwhelmingly today to recommend approval of the tentative agreement reached by UAW negotiators with Chrysler last Wed., Oct. 10.
