PPG Honors Eight Suppliers for Superior Performance in 2007
PITTSBURGH, June 19, 2008 – PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) has presented eight Excellent Supplier Awards for superior performance in 2007.
Award criteria included product quality, delivery, documentation, innovation, responsiveness, continuous improvement and participation in PPG’s Supplier Added Value Effort ($AVE) program.
Kathleen McGuire, PPG vice president, purchasing and distribution, praised the performance of the award-winning suppliers. “Their products, services, reliability, innovation and overall value in 2007 were outstanding,” she said. “We consider them invaluable business partners who provide a significant competitive advantage to PPG.”
On an annual basis, PPG purchases nearly $7 billion in materials and services from thousands of suppliers.

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio, May 19, 2008 – A PPG Ferrari Rosso Corsa Red finish from PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) automotive refinish business adorns “Ferrambo,” winner of the 2008 Ridler Award, which honors the most outstanding custom car making its debut at the Detroit Autorama held annually in March. This is the second time in three years that a PPG finish adorned a Ridler Award winner.

Automotive glass technology gives passengers peace of mind, increases fuel efficiency
PITTSBURGH, April 2008 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) is showcasing its Safe and Sound laminated glass in booth 1751 during the SAE World Congress at Cobo Center in Detroit the week of April 14. Safe and Sound glass is the platform for many of PPG’s enhanced glazing technologies.
PPG, together with General Motors, will demonstrate the unique properties of Enhanced Technology Glass (ETG) during a press conference in the PPG booth at 3 p.m., April 14.
PPG Acquires NanoProducts Corporation
PPG positioned to be world leader in nanotechnology
PITTSBURGH, Feb. 11, 2008 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has acquired the assets and intellectual property of NanoProducts Corporation, Longmont, Colo., a producer of nanoproduct materials and a developer of nanoproduct technology. Terms were not disclosed.
The nanoparticle technology company has an extensive patent estate and operates pilot facilities for the development and manufacture of unique nanoparticles.
PPG Becomes Founding Reporter of The Climate Registry
Company takes action on climate change
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 28, 2008 – PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) has become a Founding Reporter of The Climate Registry as it sets aggressive greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction goals. The Climate Registry is a non-profit organization established to measure and publicly report GHG emissions in a common, accurate and transparent manner consistent across industry sectors and borders.

PPG Launches ‘Green’ ZIRCOBOND Pretreatment
TROY, Mich., Jan. 15, 2008 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has announced the launch of a new, environmentally-responsible automotive pretreatment technology at CAMI Automotive’s production facility in Ingersoll, Ont., Canada. CAMI, an independently incorporated joint venture of Suzuki Motor Corporation and General Motors of Canada Ltd., began processing vehicles with Zircobond pretreatment in early January and moved to full-scale production Jan. 14.
Metal pretreatment cleans and provides corrosion protection to automotive body surfaces. However, traditional zinc-phosphate pretreatment processes generate sludge containing heavy metals such as nickel, zinc and manganese, making them subject to environmental regulations.
PPG to Distribute New Wastewater Treatment Technology to Automotive OEMs
DETROIT, Jan. 13, 2008 – PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) announced it has signed an agreement with Plymouth Technology, Inc. (Plymouth), to distribute Metals Removal System (MRS) wastewater treatment technology by Plymouth to the North American automotive original-equipment manufacturer (OEM) market. PPG will distribute this technology under the PPG brand name “Water Wise Solutions.”
PPG to Acquire Brown Brothers from Unipart Automotive
Company strengthens growing presence in Europe
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 17, 2007 – PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG), through a European subsidiary, has agreed to purchase the bodyshop distribution business of Unipart Automotive. The transaction is expected to close on or about Jan. 31, 2008. The business will operate as a subsidiary of PPG under the name Brown Brothers Distribution UK Ltd. Financial terms were not disclosed.
