The new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet luxury convertible
Porsche is doubling the driving fun to be had from the new 911 Carrera by putting a Cabriolet alongside the Coupé.
The debut of the new generation of the sports car classic is being followed only a few months later by the open-top models of the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S in the new 911 design.
What the Coupé began with the new aluminium-steel body, the Cabriolet continues with the all-new, unique hood: As a result, the typical 911 roof line is initially retained in its entirety. Even when closed up, the Cabriolet cuts a fine figure. Intelligent lightweight design, even including the use of magnesium in the hood, ensures less weight and more sportiness, lower fuel consumption and greater comfort. With the open-top 911s as well, Porsche has managed to reverse the weight spiral and make the new Cabrio models significantly lighter than its predecessors.
The new 2012 Porsche Panamera GTS 4-door sports car
Porsche has added a number of bells and whistles to the already rather zippy 4-door Panamera Gran Turismo to bring into the world the zippier 2012 Porsche Panamera Gran Turismo Sport, an even-higher performance, sportier version.
Power has been boosted from the 300 hp of the Panamera base version's 3.6L V6 to a distinctly gutsy 430 hp, generated by a 4.8L naturally aspirated V8. This tops the Panamera GTS's sister models, the Panamera S and Panamera 4S, by 30 hp, which will be handy if you ever happen to pull up alongside one at a stoplight. Ha, ha, you shall chortle as you leave them in the dust. Max torque is upped to 520 Nm from 500 Nm.
Porsche has put on sale the 2013 Porsche 918 Spyder super sports car with its innovative plug-in hybrid drive. Production development is proceeding apace in the wake of the outstanding customer response to the concept car unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2010.
Thanks to its unique hybrid technology, the 918 Spyder is estimated to consume a mere three litres of fuel per 100 kilometres (94 mpg imp.) based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Its V8 engine delivers more than 368 kW (500 hp), assisted by two electric motors with a total of at least 160 kW (218 hp). The 918 Spyder is available for immediate order priced from 645,000 Euro – subject to VAT and country-specific charges.
The next step up from the Cayman S is known as the Cayman S Black Edition: Starting in July 2011, Porsche is bringing the mid-engine coupé to market in a special edition limited to 500 units boasting even better performance and especially lavish equipment specification.
The Cayman S Black Edition is powered by a 3.4 litre six-cylinder boxer engine with power output increased by 10 hp (7 kW) to 330 hp (243 kW) at 7,400 rpm (an additional 200 rpm). The maximum torque remains unchanged at 370 Newton metres at 4,750 rpm.
Porsche is widening the top end of its Carrera model line and pairing up each of the two 911 Carrera GTS with an all-wheel drive twin.
That means that the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé and Cabriolet will combine the 408 hp (300 kW) top of the range engine of the Carrera GTS family with the intelligent, all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management (PTM). Driving dynamics are not the only source of attraction. Economics are as well.
Thanks to Porsche Intelligent Performance the new all-wheel 911s consume no more than the equivalent Carrera 4S version, the Coupé remains at 11.0 l/100 km (25.7 mpg imp.) and the Cabriolet at 11.2 l/100 km (25.2 mpg imp.) respectively based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Moreover both of them boast an even more comprehensive standard equipment package compared with the Carrera 4S models.
The 911 GT3 RS, one of Porsche's most popular, coveted and successful track-inspired production cars, has been given a final, thrilling injection of thoroughbred motorsport technology resulting in the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0.
Limited to 600 vehicles worldwide, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 brings together in a sports car the attributes that have made the Porsche 911 GT3 a consistent winner on the race track.
The motorsport-derived 4.0-liter engine, already the highest displacement 911 engine ever, also features the highest per-liter output -- 125 horsepower (hp) per liter -- from a naturally aspirated Porsche flat-six engine.
With a range in excess of 1,200 kilometres on an 80 litre tank, the new Panamera Diesel is a good bet as a distinctly economical GT saloon.
Thanks to its fuel consumption of only 6.3 litres per 100 kilometres based on the NEDC with the optional low friction tyres – which equates to 167 g/km CO2 – in purely arithmetical terms, the first Porsche Gran Turismo with a six-cylinder diesel engine can drive from Berlin to Bologna without refuelling. With the standard tyres the fuel consumption of 6.5 l/100 km (172 g/km CO2) is also very low.
At 48, the Porsche 911 Carrera is younger than ever. The completely redesigned seventh-generation sports car icon is stepping into the limelight with its sleek and stretched silhouette, exciting contours and precisely designed features.
Yet from every angle it is unmistakably a 911, holding true to the Porsche 911 Carrera ‘evolution, not revolution’ design philosophy.
Debuting later this year, Porsche will unveil its second production hybrid model, the Panamera S Hybrid, adding another chapter to its Porsche Intelligent Performance development philosophy.
Without sacrificing sportiness or elegance, this new Panamera model produces 380 horsepower with fuel consumption of only 6.8 L/100 km on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
The Panamera S Hybrid is the most fuel efficient Porsche of all time. Optional low-rolling-resistance tires developed especially for the Panamera help this hybrid performance sedan deliver its impressive NEDC fuel economy figure.
But even with standard performance tires, the Panamera S Hybrid’s fuel consumption is a low 7.1 L/100 km. Official EPA fuel economy estimates will be available closer to the car’s on-sale date.
With its new four-door Panamera Turbo S, Porsche once again raises the bar for sporty four-door luxury cars by delivering ultra high performance and efficiency, sports-car-like driving dynamics and first-class comfort in a purely Porsche package.
Porsche will reveal its most powerful Panamera for the first time in North America on April 20, 2011 at the New York International Auto Show.
