Joint Venture Will Provide In-Vehicle Safety, Security and Communication Services

2007-11-29, Shanghai – General Motors, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation Group (SAIC) and OnStar announced today the establishment of a telematics joint venture called Shanghai OnStar Telematics Company Limited. This is OnStar’s first venture outside of North America in its 11-year history.

The Shanghai-based joint venture will provide a range of OnStar’s trademark in-vehicle safety, security and communication services similar to those currently available in the United States and Canada, including advanced automatic crash notification, roadside assistance, remote door unlock, hands-free calling, vehicle diagnostics and turn-by-turn navigation.

New capability to assist OnStar subscribers and public safety officials in stolen vehicle cases

WASHINGTON D.C., October 9, 2007 – General Motors (GM) and OnStar demonstrated today a prototype technology that can help OnStar further assist in the safe recovery of subscribers’ stolen vehicles and reduce fatalities and injuries resulting from police chases. This new technology, known as Stolen Vehicle Slowdown, is the latest enhancement to OnStar’s stolen vehicle service and can allow OnStar advisors working with law enforcement to send a signal to a subscriber’s stolen vehicle to reduce engine power slowing the vehicle down gradually.

GM celebrates Disability Awareness Month by expanding program for equipment reimbursement and extended OnStar service

2007-10-03, DETROIT – General Motors today announced that it has added the entire line of Saab vehicles to its GM Mobility program. Customers who now purchase or lease any new 2007 or 2008MY Saab vehicle and install or reinstall eligible adaptive mobility equipment can receive a combination of financial assistance and the protection and convenience of OnStar. All GM brands are now part of the program, and include Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, HUMMER, Pontiac and Saturn.

Vehicle Crash, Injury Data Matching Could Save Lives

GM, OnStar and University of Michigan Medical School Begin Pilot Program

2007-09-26, ANN ARBOR, Mich. - General Motors, OnStar and the University of Michigan Medical School are working together to collect crash and injury data that could lead to engineering safer cars and trucks and getting the right kind of help to a crash scene.

The Advanced Automotive Safety Research Study, which began earlier this month, asks people involved in certain kinds of crashes - whether or not they were injured - to confidentially share their personal medical records with safety researchers trying to understand how well restraint systems can mitigate crash injuries.
