Monroe County, New York Joins Chevrolet's "Project Driveway" Program to Market Test Fuel Cell Vehicles
ROCHESTER, NY, 2008-04-23 -- Monroe County, New York, announced today that they will use a Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell Electric vehicle as part of their efforts to promote a cleaner and greener environment in the Western New York area. Monroe County becomes the latest member of Chevy's Project Driveway--the largest-ever market test of fuel cell and hydrogen technology.

2007-11-13, WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. –The state of New York opened its first hydrogen station to support Chevrolet’s Project Driveway, an effort to move fuel cell technology from the laboratory into people’s driveways. White Plains Mayor Joseph Delfino and Phil Baxley, president of Shell Hydrogen LLC, dedicated the state’s first hydrogen vehicle refueling facility today at the city’s Department of Public Works depot.
The White Plains fueling station is the first of six hydrogen vehicle refueling stations planned for the U.S., as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Infrastructure Demonstration and Validation Project.

Ten teams driving hybrid electric cars will join the Innovation Class of next summer's Great Race from New York to Paris and attempt to complete the almost 22,000 mile (35,000 km) course by driving as efficiently as possible.
