Michelin Becomes Official Tyre Supplier to A1GP World Cup of Motorsport
London, Great Britain, 21 July 2008 -- Michelin is to become the exclusive tyre partner to A1GP World Cup of Motorsport starting with the 2008/09 season. The French company which has a vast motorsport heritage has signed a three year deal to provide tyres for the new A1GP Powered by Ferrari car.
Michelin tyre technicians have been working hard with the A1GP technical personnel to provide the best possible rubber for the series. Since the Powered by Ferrari car had its first run in Fiorano in late May it has been using the company's tyres and has clocked up over 4,000 kilometres on tracks in Italy and Spain.
Michelin Ranks Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Winter Tires in Japan for a Fifth Consecutive Year
J.D. Power Asia Pacific Reports: 2008 Japan Winter Tire Customer Satisfaction Index Study
TOKYO: 22 May 2008 — For a fifth consecutive year, Michelin ranks highest in satisfying vehicle owners in Japan with their winter tires, according to the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2008 Japan Winter Tire Customer Satisfaction Index StudySM released today.
The study, now in its fifth year, measures customer satisfaction with winter tires by examining five key factors: tire performance in snow-covered road conditions, icy road conditions and regular road conditions, as well as tire appearance and tire quality/durability. The overall index score is calculated based on customer evaluations and is scored on a 1,000-point scale.
Michelin Energy Saver Tire Cited by TÜV SÜD Automotive for Its Wet-Braking Safety Performance, Fuel Efficiency
05/06/2008 -- Tests conducted by TÜV SÜD Automotive in April and May 2008 show that the new Michelin Energy Saver combines one of the shortest wet-road braking distances of any tire in the market with the biggest fuel savings.
The braking tests were carried out by the German organization using three different tire sizes1 among those most widely sold in Europe, which it purchased in tire outlets. The comparative tests demonstrate that in challenging road conditions, such as on wet surfaces, the Michelin Energy Saver brakes in shorter or comparable distances2 than six of its main, major-brand competitors (when slowing from 80 km/h to 20 km/h).
Michelin China Announces Price Increase for Passenger Car, Light Truck Replacement Tyres
Beijing, China, May 7, 2008 -- Due to the strong rise of raw material costs, Michelin (China) Investment Co., Ltd will increase the prices of passenger car and light truck replacement tyres from 3% to 7% depending on its different brands (Michelin, Warrior, BF Goodrich) and product ranges.
This price increase will be effective in June 2008.

02/04/2008 -- The Jury of the Eighth Edition of the Conseil Supérieur de l’Ordre des Experts-Comptables Awards (French national Chartered Accountants Board and the French most competent authority on this subject) unanimously designated Michelin, out of 50 candidates, as the 2007 Best Sustainable Development Report Award winner.
This award, placed under the High Patronage of the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development, was handed to Mr. Jacques Toraille, the Group’s Performance and Responsibility approach manager, before several members of the Michelin team.
Michelin North America Announces Tire Price Increases
GREENVILLE, S.C. (Jan. 3, 2008) – As a result of continuing increases in raw material, energy and transportation costs, Michelin North America is increasing prices on two tire product lines.
* Passenger and light truck replacement tire prices will increase by up to 7 percent on Michelin®, BFGoodrich®, Uniroyal®, private and associate brand tires sold in the United States effective March 3, 2008.
* Earthmover and industrial tire prices, including items on back-order, will increase by up to 3 percent on products sold in the United States and Mexico effective Feb. 1, 2008.
Michelin Communicates Its Restructuring Costs in Connection with Pursuit of Its Strategy to Improve Competitiveness in Spain
12/13/07 -- On October 3, 2007 Michelin presented to the bodies representing its employees in Spain a project concerning the modernization and reorganization of production designed to improve the competitiveness of its Spanish plants.
The Michelin Group is now in a position to communicate on the related restructuring costs which are expected to amount to EUR 143 million approximately. Beyond the costs linked to the specialization of the site of Lasarte, most of this amount will finance early retirement schemes.
These non-recurring charges will be fully allocated to Group accounts for fiscal 2007.

11/04/2007 -- Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V-Michelin) rode to a thrilling victory in today’s MotoGP season finale at Valencia, beating Casey Stoner (Ducati Marlboro Team Desmosedici) by an impressive 5.447 seconds after a nail-biting 30 laps.
Dani Pedrosa was in astonishing form, starting the race from pole position and leading from lap five all the way to the chequered flag, breaking the 990cc lap record by 0.176 seconds aboard his 800cc RC212V.

10/25/2007 -- On October 18, Michelin received the Best Annual Report 2006 Prize in the CAC 40 category during the 53rd Financial Communication Venue organized by two of France’s foremost financial newspapers: ‘la Vie Financière’ and ‘Les Echos’.

Furthermore, the Group commits to all necessary measures to help every employee to find a new job quickly and revitalize the affected regions.
This project constitutes a new phase in Michelin’s industrial strategy in France and in Spain. Its objective is to continue to strengthen the Group’s competitiveness in Western Europe, earmarking significant investments to modernize plants.
