GM South Africa Welcomes New Holden VE Ute

2008-02-25 -- 2008 will see GM Holden celebrate its 1000th ute export to South Africa with the announcement that General Motors South Africa is to take delivery of the new Holden VE Ute.

This is the first export program for the all-new Ute, outside New Zealand, and enters GM Holden into its 5th year of ute exports to South Africa.

To be sold as a Chevrolet Lumina SS Ute, the VE derivative will be almost identical in terms of specification and features to the domestic version of the sporty SS V Series, and joins the popular Lumina SS Sedan already on sale.

Australian Car Buyers Vote Holden VE Commodore Range No.1 Again

2007-12-10 -- GM Holden’s acclaimed VE Commodore range was voted No.1 Large Car by car buyers using Carsales.com.au. This is the third consumer-based award for the Holden Commodore Sedan and Holden Ute this year.

All votes in the Carsales Network People’s Choice Awards were tallied from new car enquiries placed between November 2006 and October 2007 on carsales.com.au and its affiliated websites.

Mike Sinclair, Carsales Editor in Chief, said the Carsales Network People’s Choice Awards are decided by car buyers from all new vehicles currently on the market.

“The Holden Commodore was the standout performer in the large car category, registering more than double the votes of its traditional large car competitors,” he said.

Awards Keep Coming for Holden VE Range

2007-11-30 -- GM Holden’s acclaimed Holden VE range was presented with not one, but two, Drive Car of the Year awards at an industry function held in Melbourne last night.

The Holden VE Ute SS took out the honours for the Best Ute in 2007 while the Holden VE Commodore was voted the people’s favourite, picking up the People Choice award for a second successive year.

The Holden VE Ute SS was complimented for bringing new levels of safety and driving dynamics to a work-oriented segment.

Judged on a wide range of criteria including performance, price, quality, comfort and safety, the Drive Car of the Year judges put 44 nominated models through their paces over six days and more than 20,000kms.

Holden VE Ute Crowned Reader's Favourite

2007-11-23 -- Carsguide today announced GM Holden's VE Ute SV6 has won their inaugural Reader's Choice award, one of three cars awarded in the 2007 carsguide Car of the Year awards.

The VE Ute SV6 received almost 20 per cent of the entries registered through the carsguide.com.au website to pick up the award.

All 11 of the carsguide's Car of the Year finalists were in the running, however the VE Ute SV6 took the honours and was described by the Courier Mail's motoring editor, Mark Hinchliffe, as "simply the best-riding ute Australia has produced."

Holden Chairman and Managing Director, Chris Gubbey, said it was an award the whole of GM Holden should be proud to boast.

Holden VE Ute at Home in Sydney 4x4 Show

2007-11-04 -- The new Holden VE Ute will be the centrepiece of GM Holden’s broad offering in the SUV and LCV market on display at this year’s 4x4 Show in Sydney, Australia.

VE Ute went on sale in October to widespread media praise and is the latest iconic model in a line-up that spans almost 60 years of Australian motoring.

The 4x4 Show starts on Friday, 9 November, with the GM Holden stand also displaying
the popular Rodeo - in both 4x4 and 4x2 variants - and a range of Holden’s AWD Captivas. Both Rodeo and Captiva come in petrol and diesel models offering consumers even more choice this year.
