2008-06-16 -- From June 4th to 7th, Shammout Co. Ltd, the exclusive distributor of Great Wall Motors (GWM) vehicles in Syria, attended the annual ALEPPO Motor Show. ALEPPO is the second largest city in Syria and this motor show attracted more than 2000 local auto professionals and fans.

Two Hover CUVs, one Gwperi, and two Deer pickups came to this show. As oil reserves are not abundant in Syria, 1.3L Gwperi attracts quite a lot of customers thanks to its low fuel consumption as well as fashionable design. Local media also thought highly of its elegance and rushed to report it, forecasting that it shall create a new record in sales volume.

First batch to Africa and Russia

2008-05-27 -- In the midst of May, 270 Gwperi were shipped to Algeria and its surrounding countries from Xingang, Tianjin, China. At the same time, another 286 Gwperi were transported to Russia by railway. Today, 710 Gwperi have been exported since its launching. Hence, the target to launching Gwperi both at home and abroad has been realized.

2008-05-27 -- 23rd May 2008 was a great day for Indonesian WICM vehicle factory (subsidiary of Indomobil Group, distributor of GWM) - the first GW Wingle was finished in the end following nearly one-year-preparation. This is also the first time to realize the export and assembly in IKD for Great Wall Wingle at abroad.

2008-05-17 -- The annual Durban Motor Show was held in Durban exhibition centre during April 10 to 13, 2008. The biggest difference from previous shows was that one Chinese independent brand — Great Wall Motor (GWM) attended. At the exhibition, Great Wall Motor formally launched the New Logo and the new model Hover.

Great Wall Motor booth covers an area of 400 square meters which is the second biggest one next only to Toyota stand. Besides, all together 8 models were showed in the motor show, including Hover limo and GW Peri, their debut in South Africa market.

2008-05-08 -- For Wang Fengying, CEO of GREAT WALL Motor Co Ltd (GWM), China’s largest maker of SUVs and pickup trucks, the biggest pressure and challenge in 2008 is how to build a better brand for GWM overseas. Since 1998, GWM’s vehicle export volume and revenue has maintained the leading position, and beginning in 2000 its exports increased annually with a high average growth rate of 90 percent. Last year, the company exported 51,394 units of vehicles with revenue of $450 million.

GWM vehicles have run on the roads of 121 countries, 81 in which it has distribution and service networks “We hope to export 80,000 vehicles this year, with overseas markets accounting for half of our sales next year,” says Wang.

2008-04-25 -- On February 25, 2007, 1,500 units of Great Wall vehicles reached the port of Durban, South Africa, ready to be sold across the country. Among them, Hover and Wingle brands account for the main part of the new arrivals, and others include Sing and Sailor. In March 2007, with the first batch of Great Wall vehicles sold in South Africa, Great Wall Motor’s sales endeavor to South Africa market began. As one of China’s largest auto exporters in South Africa, Great Wall Motor Co Ltd has sold 12,000 units of vehicles in the country, and they are well received.

April 2008 -- Since there is a great potential of growth for passenger cars in the Middle East, Syria will become one of the important markets for Great Wall Motors (GWM) to develop in 2008.

2008-04-11 -- Algeria International Motor Show which lasts for 15 days was held in the capital Algiers on March 25, 2008. More than sixty motor companies from different countries attended this motor show. Algeria-based GMS Company, distributor of GWM, has been dedicated to exploit the market positively since the beginning of cooperation with GWM in April 2007.

Great importance was attached to this motor show and exhibited GWPERI, which is the first launched passenger car of GWM in Algeria. As an elegant model targeting to the global market, GWPERI attracted much attention at the show.

Other exhibited GWM models included Hover, Wingle and Socool as well. Algerians have expressed great interests in GWM vehicles and the GWM stand became a sweet spot of the show.

2008-04-11 -- Recently, good news came from Ukraine that Great Wall Wingle without any refitment, taken by Atlant Company, joined PROFI-Cup jeep autocross on March 15th, and was ranked No.7. This match, organized by Ukraine SUV Committee attracted representatives from 16 media outlets, including 7 TV stations, 8 magazines as well as 2 websites.

The match was held on earthen road, rough, muddy, with big turns. The whole race was 6000 km; more than 40 teams participated in it.

Leaders of PR Time claimed that the match on March 15th is just the first stage out of three stages of PROFI-Cup autocross. We are expecting there will be more wonderful matches in early summer and autumn.

07.04.2008 -- On March 17, 2008, located at Foton district of Shenzhen, the biggest 4s showroom of Great Wall Motor (GWM) in China, named Shenzhen Benjue Great Wall Motor Flagship Showroom opened. At the same time, the launching ceremony for GWPERI was held successfully. The top management of Great Wall Motor Company Limited, managers of Benjue Showroom, friends from press and media, members of GWM fans clubs and other distinguished guests had attended this event.

01.04.2008 -- 12 GWM Sailor Single Cabs were delivered to Reshebile Aviation on March 2 in Durban, South Africa.

29.03.2008 -- In order to celebrate Chinese Spring Festival, Chinese Embassy in South Africa held a traditional temple fair in Randburg, South Africa at the end of February.

The South Africa based distributor of GWM, Great Wall Motors (SA) attended this fair taking GWM Sailor and GWM SING with new front grill, as well as newly launched model GWM WINGLE.

Although this is only one common outdoor show, GWM still attracted much attention due to its good appearance and reputation in South Africa.

14.03.2008 -- First Auto Company, distributor of Great Wall Motors (GWM) located in Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), has dedicated to strive for the government tender and achieved a great success. In a new round of purchase for government tender, First Auto Company won it with an overwhelming advantage.

01.03.2008 -- On 23rd of February, 2008,the Costa Rica Auto Show was held in San Jose, capital of Costa Rica. It is the biggest auto show in Costa Rica that normally comes once a year and lasts for three weeks.

01.03.2008 -- ACE Autos, distributor of Great Wall Motors (GWM), successfully arranged the formal launching ceremony of Great Wall Motors in Bangladesh recently at Winter Garden of Hotel Sheraton Dhaka.

18.02.2008 -- In 2007, Great Wall Motors (GWM) obtained great achievements, which approved by the domestic auto industry at large. GW SUV became the sales champion at home with its 64,000 units of sales volume in the same field. In pickup line, GW pickup was the best seller with 54,000 units of sales volume.

15.02.2008 -- At the end of 2007, as the 913 units of GW vehicles were shipped to Saudi Arabia, GWM realized sales of total 51,394 units and more than 450 million USD in the year of 2007. Both its quantity and turnover come out top in China's auto export industry. In addition, GWPeri and GW Cowry, which have not put into market in domestic market yet, were also exported in small batches to Russia, Algeria, Egypt, and etc.
