All-electric and original hybrid electric prototypes unveiled

TOKYO, August 6, 2008 -- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today unveiled all-electric and original hybrid electric prototype vehicles, both powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries. Under the NISSAN GT 2012 business plan, the company has committed to zero-emission vehicle leadership, and has announced plans to introduce an all-electric vehicle in 2010 and mass market globally in 2012.

Nissan Doubles Power Density of Next Generation Fuel Cell Stack

35% cost reduction achieved

TOKYO, August 6, 2008 -- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has developed a new fuel cell stack with double the power density of the previous generation stack. The new fuel cell stack also achieves a 35% cost reduction mainly due to half the use of platinum, a key material used in the production of fuel cell stacks. Test fleets incorporating the improved fuel cell stacks will be operational by the end of this year.

Monroe County, New York Joins Chevrolet's "Project Driveway" Program to Market Test Fuel Cell Vehicles

ROCHESTER, NY, 2008-04-23 -- Monroe County, New York, announced today that they will use a Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell Electric vehicle as part of their efforts to promote a cleaner and greener environment in the Western New York area. Monroe County becomes the latest member of Chevy's Project Driveway--the largest-ever market test of fuel cell and hydrogen technology.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will hold a Fuel Cell Pre-Solicitation Workshop on January 23-24, 2008 at the DOE Golden Field Office in Golden, CO. DOE invites the fuel cell research community and other stakeholders to participate in a discussion of the most relevant fuel cell technology research, development, and demonstration topics appropriate for government funding in automotive, stationary, portable power, and early market applications. Input from workshop participants and from the DOE Request for Information will be used to assist in the development of a planned Fuel Cell Funding Opportunity Announcement with awards anticipated in FY 2009.

Chrysler LLC Joins the California Fuel Cell Partnership

Sacramento, Calif., Nov 28, 2007 - Chrysler is the newest member of the California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP)—the 34th member of the public-private partnership.

"Of the fuel sources on the table for long-term future use in transportation, hydrogen holds the greatest promise," said Mark Chernoby, Vice President – Advance Vehicle Engineering, Chrysler LLC. "Collaborations such as the California Fuel Cell Partnership will help engineers develop solutions for this technology at an accelerated rate."

The CaFCP is a collaboration of 34 organizations including auto manufacturers, energy providers, fuel cell technology companies and government agencies working together to promote the commercialization of hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles.

DOE Requests Information on Topic Areas for Fuel Cell RD&D

November 26, 2007 -- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued a Request for Information (RFI) on potential topic areas for research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) of fuel cell technologies for automotive, stationary, portable power, and early market applications.

The DOE is requesting comments on the technical topic areas described in the RFI and is also accepting suggestions for other fuel cell RD&D topic areas. Feedback from the fuel cell research community and other relevant stakeholders will be used to assist in the development of a planned Fuel Cell Funding Opportunity Announcement for anticipated awards in FY 2009.
