Cutting-Edge F1 Technology for BMW Production Models
The BMW Group benefits from highly advanced innovations developed by the BMW Sauber Formula One Team
Munich, 08/04/2008 -- The main prerequisite for BMW's comeback to Formula One in 2000 was to generate synergies between F1 and series development. It was for this reason that development of the Formula One powertrain and electronics was integrated at the Munich plant, with the BMW Research and Innovation Centre (FIZ) playing a pivotal role. The F1 factory was set up less than a kilometre away from the think tank and the two formed a close network.

The setting for the celebration is the revival of the most spectacular stable trophy in racing history - the BMW M1 Procar series.

Use of Mechanically Based KERS in Motorsport and Beyond
June 2008 -- During 2007, the FIA agreed that kinetic energy recovery systems (KERS) had relevance to Formula 1. Road car electrical systems were probably thought the obvious solution, however mechanical high speed flywheel systems are giving the teams some choice. Xtrac are key to the design, development and integration of the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), into a mechanical flywheel KERS, initially for F1 but also for Sportscar and ultimately for mainstream automotive use.

Lotus Celebrates Life of Jim Clark with Launch of Lotus Clark Type 25 Elise SC
June 2008 -- Jim Clark is considered by many as the finest and most naturally gifted racing driver of all time. He won the F1 World Championship twice for Team Lotus in 1963 and in 1965.
In total, he won 25 Grand Prix races and was the first Briton to win the Indianapolis 500. Clark won a third of all the F1 races he entered, as well as racing in other formulae such as F2, F3 and Touring Cars. Typically he would race in as many as three different categories per race meeting! How many of the current crop of F1 drivers would do that?

Canadian GP Preview for BMW Sauber F1 Team
6th – 8th June 2008 for 7th of 18 World Championship Races
Munich/Hinwil, May 30, 2008 -- Although the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal is also labelled a street circuit, one could hardly imagine a greater contrast to the Monaco course. When Formula One gathers for the Canadian Grand Prix on 8th June, there will be no sign of the extra wings that adorned the cars in the Principality. The picturesquely sited island circuit in the mighty St Lawrence River is no permanent race track either, but it is respectably fast. To boost speed along the straights, the aerodynamic set-up is geared towards relatively low downforce.
