Two Mercedes-Benz Econic trucks deployed at London Farnborough Airport

Stuttgart -- Aug 08, 2008 -- Two Mercedes-Benz Econic semi-trailer trucks with a tanker body have just entered service at London Farnborough Airport. The trucks are based on the 18-tonne Econic 1824LL chassis but were fitted with a Jost fifth wheel coupling and converted into 4x2 semi-trailer trucks for transporting hazardous goods at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Molsheim, which specialises in constructing special-purpose vehicles.

At the Berlin Motor Show from February 11 until 23, 1933, the company presented models LZ 4000, LZ 6000 and LZ 8000 for the three payload categories of four, six and eight tons. With these lightweight and easily maneuverable payload giants, Daimler-Benz expanded its commercial vehicle range more vigorously than ever before, offering customers an extremely diversified diesel-engined truck selection that was unmatched by any other commercial vehicle manufacturer.

Establishing Joint Venture with Indian partner Hero Group

Stuttgart/Delhi -- Dec 14, 2007 -- Daimler Trucks forms a Joint Venture with the Indian company Hero Group. Both companies have signed today a shareholder agreement and are in the process of submitting the formally required application to the FIPB (Foreign Investment Promotion Board. On December 13, 2007, the Daimler Supervisory Board had approved the transaction.

The projected joint venture is first aimed at local production of light-, medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles for the Indian volume market. Production for export markets is expected to follow at a later stage. The vehicles produced will be variants of Daimler Trucks’ current product portfolio tailored to the Indian market.

Oct 19, 2007 -- Stuttgart/ Detroit – Andreas Renschler, member of the Daimler Board of Management and Head of the Daimler Trucks Division, and his colleagues, Dr. Michael Dostal, who is responsible for Powertrain Operations & Manufacturing Engineering, and Chris Patterson, who is responsible for the NAFTA Region and the commercial vehicle brands Freightliner, Sterling, Western Star, and Thomas Built Buses, today presented the new Heavy-Duty Engine Platform (HDEP) for the North American market in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.
