PONTIAC, Mich., 2008-04-25 – When it was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year, the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s power was estimated at 100 horsepower for each of its 6.2 liters of displacement. GM Powertrain has completed SAE certification of the ZR1’s supercharged LS9 V-8 and the results exceed the estimate: 638 horsepower (476 kW) and 604 lb.-ft. of torque (819 Nm).

* The Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell crossover SUV is being driven by real families in test markets. The zero-emissions, zero-petroleum vehicle converts hydrogen into electricity.
* The Chevrolet Volt electric car chassis demonstrates the technology that will deliver 40 miles of battery range and cross-country capability when the battery is recharged by a small gasoline generator. GM is working toward production of the Volt.

DETROIT – Chevrolet officially announced the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 – an American supercar that brings the technology and engineering refinement of carbon-fiber, ceramics and electronics together in a distinctive design.
“Chevrolet’s goal with the new Corvette ZR1 is to show what an American supercar can deliver, at a price that trumps exotics that cost two, three or four times as much – and does so with exceptional driveability,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager.

2008-01-18, SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The first '09 Corvette ZR1 to go on sale will go to the highest bidder, Saturday, Jan. 19, at the prestigious Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event auction in Scottsdale, Ariz. Proceeds from the ZR1's sale, as well as a trio of collectable authentic NASCAR Chevy Monte Carlo racecar hoods, will benefit United Way for Southeast Michigan. Tonight Show host Jay Leno will help present the car, along with Troy Clarke, president, GM North America. Representing United Way for Southeast Michigan will be President and CEO Mike Brennan and Vice President Beth Noble.
