05/20/2008 -- Every two years the tyre and garage/workshop industry meets at the world's largest tyre exhibition in Essen, Germany. Continental, Europe's biggest tyre manufacturer, will once again be participating at this event - REIFEN 2008 - from 20th to 23rd May.

At its stand no. 130 in hall 3, the corporation will be displaying the latest tyre developments from its brands Continental, Uniroyal, Semperit and Barum for cars, MPVs and 4x4 vehicles.

"We offer a broad range of products and we are convinced that they hold significant market potential that we will be able to fully exploit in the near future", explained Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann, a member of Continental's Executive Board. "But to achieve this we have to ensure that we are properly structured. Frankfurt am Main, Germany, March 18, 2008 -- The Chassis & Safety Division of the international automotive supplier Continental AG will integrate its expertise in the series production of conventional brakes and electromechanical combi brakes with the new innovative approaches adopted by VDO Automotive AG which Continental recently acquired. By pooling engineering know-how, the plan is to step up development activities ranging from electromechanical brake ready for series production to a fully dry brake.

Electromechanical Brakes: Their universal electronic interface makes electromechanical brake calipers ideally suited for an integration into a global chassis control system.

AutoBild and auto motor und sport test new summer tyres

Hannover, March 18, 2008 -- The latest tests on summer tyres published by AutoBild and auto motor und sport (ams) rated the tyres produced by the Continental Corporation as "exemplary", "good" and "recommended". In particular the testers praised the tyres' excellent balance, good brake performance, secure handling characteristics on wet and dry roads combined with low rolling resistance. In the final ratings ContiSportContact 3 was classed as "exemplary", ContiCrossContact UHP and Barum Bravuris 2 were "recommended" and the new RainSport 2 from Uniroyal was classed as "good". ams awarded ContiPremiumContact 2 second place with a "recommended" rating.
