High School Students Face Off in Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition at Ford WHQ

DEARBORN, Mich., June 24, 2008 – The automotive technicians of tomorrow will be honing their skills today as they compete in the annual Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills National Finals at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.

Highlights:
* 100 high school auto tech students from across the country will compete in the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills National Finals today from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. EDT at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn.
* The winning team will win scholarships and the chance to work for a week with the renowned Roush Fenway Racing team.
* Employment for automotive services technicians is estimated to increase 14 percent between 2006 and 2016, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor.

Schoolgirls worked at Stuttgart sports car manufacturer’s training center on “Girls Day”

Stuttgart, 4/24/2008 -- Today, 30 schoolgirls aged between 13 and 15 experienced at first hand how attractive technical professions in the automotive industry can be for women. As a part of the nationwide “Girls Day”, they visited Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart. In the sports car manufacturer’s training workshop, the girls became acquainted with the jobs of mechatronics technician, vehicle painter, vehicle interior designer, and construction/industrial mechanic.

AAIA Recognizes World Class Automotive Technicians

BETHESDA, MD, March 11, 2008 – Of the more than 850,000 automotive technicians working in the United States, eighteen outstanding individuals have qualified for the AAIA World Class Technician Award, the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) announced today. Each of these professional technicians tested and obtained ASE certification in 22 specialty areas during the 2007 test administrated by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
