Vatican City/Wolfsburg, 29 May 2008 -- Pope Benedict XVI received Prof. Dr. h.c. Ferdinand K. Piëch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, and Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, in the Vatican City on Wednesday.

The Volkswagen representatives presented the head of the Catholic Church with two specially equipped Volkswagen T5 to be deployed as ambulance vehicles in Africa.
710 Gwperi Exported Since Launch
First batch to Africa and Russia
2008-05-27 -- In the midst of May, 270 Gwperi were shipped to Algeria and its surrounding countries from Xingang, Tianjin, China. At the same time, another 286 Gwperi were transported to Russia by railway. Today, 710 Gwperi have been exported since its launching. Hence, the target to launching Gwperi both at home and abroad has been realized.

GM Latin America, Africa and Middle East First Quarter 2008 Sales Up 20%
Miramar, FL, 2008-04-15 - General Motors Latin America, Africa and Middle East (GM LAAM) region posted an all-time Q1 record in 2008, selling 323,400 vehicles, up 52,900 units over the same quarterly period in 2007. GM’s volume increase of 19.6 percent for the quarter outpaced the 11.7 percent industry growth rate for the region. In addition, LAAM’s market share increased to 17.9 percent for the quarter, up 1.2 share points year-over-year.

In achieving the Q1 record sales level, GM LAAM sold an all-time March monthly high of 111,300 units. This equates to a 7.2 percent improvement year-over-year.

2007-10-12, Miramar, FL - General Motors Latin America, Africa & Middle East (GM LAAM) region set an all-time quarterly sales record in Q3 2007, selling over 329,000 vehicles, up 59,000 units over the same period last year. In addition, GM’s quarterly market share in the region increased to 17.5 percent, representing the best Q3 share since 1997.
Through the first three quarters of 2007, GM LAAM has sold 894,000 vehicles, up 20 percent over the same period last year.
