Acura Reports February 2008 Sales
TORRANCE, Calif., March 3, 2008 -- Acura reported February sales of 13,084 units, down 8.0 percent, based on the daily selling rate,* the division announced today. Year-to-date sales reached 24,252 units.
The Acura MDX luxury SUV was the best-selling Acura for the month, posting strong sales of 4,545, up 0.8 percent versus last February. Year-to-date Acura MDX sales topped 8,527 units. Additionally, sales of the Acura RDX turbocharged SUV totaled 1,709 for the month with year-to-date sales reaching 3,192.
"Our light trucks continue to shine in 2008," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales. "We look forward to our sedans taking off as we unveil an all-new TSX at the New York Auto Show this month and a redesigned RL and new TSX hit dealerships in the spring."

TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 1, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- The Acura MDX luxury SUV topped January Acura sales for January with 3,982 units; however total Acura sales were 11,168, down 14.2 percent compared to last year.

December sales of 5,906 Acura MDX luxury SUVs and 2,263 Acura RDX turbocharged crossover SUVs represent a significant rise over November and generate year-end sales of 58,606 units (a 7.9 percent increase) for MDX and 23,356 units (a 154 percent increase) for RDX. Total Acura year-end sales reached 180,104 vehicles.

New IIHS Crash Tests Reveal Some Midsize SUVs Perform Worse Than Many Cars in Side Tests
October 11, 2007, ARLINGTON, VA — Results of crash tests for six SUVs show frontal crash protection has improved. However, the tests reveal significant differences in how well SUVs protect people in serious side crashes. Among the worst performers in the side test are the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chevrolet TrailBlazer, even though both are equipped with standard side airbags. The front and side tests recently were conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety to evaluate how well midsize SUVs protect people in the two most common kinds of serious crashes. Rear crash protection ratings for these models were released earlier this year.
