2009 Lexus RX 400h

2009 Lexus RX 400h Made History as Industry's First Hybrid Luxury Utility Vehicle

The 2009 Lexus RX 400h was the first full hybrid luxury-utility vehicle when it was introduced in 2005. The RX hybrid received styling and equipment enhancements for 2008 and carries into 2009 unchanged.

2009 Lexus RX 400h

Engine/Transmission/Drivetrain/Performance
The RX 400h hybrid combines the power of a 3.3-liter V6 gasoline engine with that of an electric drive motor to deliver performance on par with some V8-powered luxury SUVs, but with better fuel efficiency. In the all-wheel-drive model only, an additional, rear-mounted electric-drive motor/generator provides on-road, all-wheel-drive capability.

2009 Toyota Prius

Toyota Prius - The World's Leading Hybrid Vehicle

The Toyota Prius continues into 2009 as the best-selling gas-electric hybrid vehicle in the United States and the world. Prius also outsells some conventional midsize cars; such is the model's popularity that it has essentially become a synonym and a symbol for hybrid vehicles.

2009 Toyota Prius: The world leader in hybrid sales and technology

As other carmakers begin to introduce hybrid vehicles, the Toyota Prius is in its second generation and 11th year of production. More than one million have been sold worldwide, making Toyota the world leader in hybrid sales and technology.

Performance and Efficiency
