Toyota Announces Safety Recall On Selected Tundra Pickup Trucks

12/14/2007 -- Torrance, CA -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., will launch a safety recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on certain 2007 model year Tundra four-wheel-drive pickup trucks. The campaign will involve approximately 15,600 units in the U.S. and does not involve any accidents or injures.

On certain 2007 model year Tundra vehicles, there is a possibility that a joint in the rear propeller shaft may have been improperly heat treated, resulting in insufficient hardness. In the worst case, a section of the rear propeller shaft may separate at the joint. There has been one case reported among all affected vehicles that may relate to this condition. The one case involved abnormal noise and did not involve an accident.

NHTSA Announces ‘Marathon’ Child Safety Seat Recall from Britax

Monday, October 22, 2007 -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today announced that Britax Child Safety, Inc., is recalling more than 34,000 Marathon child safety seats because the seats fail to meet federal standards.

The specific Marathon seats being recalled are model numbers E9L06, E9W06, and E906, manufactured between May 23 and June 28, 2006.

During compliance testing with child dummies weighing more than 50 pounds, the upper tether hook in some of the Marathon models bent, failing to secure the seat back properly. This could result in an injury to the restrained child in a crash.

All registered owners of the Marathon seats will receive a safety notification, along with a replacement top tether hook.

September 26, 2007, Torrance CA -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., will launch a Safety Recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The campaign involves approximately 30,500 2007 and early 2008 Lexus ES 350 and 24,500 2007 and early 2008 Toyota Camry optional All Weather Floor Mats, constructed from heavy duty rubber, specifically designed for the driver's seating position in the U.S. market.

If the optional Lexus ES 350 or Toyota Camry All Weather Floor Mat (either by itself or if it is placed on top of the existing carpeted floor mat) on certain 2007 and early 2008 model year vehicles is not secured by the retaining hooks and the mat moves forward, it may interfere with the accelerator pedal returning to the idle position.
