Skoda Auto is a Partner of the World Cycling Championship
Starting this year, Škoda Auto has become an official partner and simultaneously an official car of the World Road Cycling Championship. This year’s edition takes place in Madrid, Spain from 21-25 September. At the same time, Škoda Auto has become a sponsor and an official car of the International Cycling Union (UCI – Union Cycliste Internationale). Having signed an appropriate agreement with effect until 2007, Škoda continues its successful backing of cycling sport, which it began with its partnership with the legendary Tour de France stage race.Within the world championship, Škoda will provide a fleet of 74 cars that will serve the organizers, national teams, and the cycling union. At the same time, Škoda signed an agreement with the company Shimano that provides neutral technical assistance during the course of the championship ad that will use another 6 Škoda cars as well. As far as advertising signs on and beside the track along the route are concerned, Škoda will continue the same design line as it pursued during the Tour de France.
“The World Championship is a top event entered by the best riders from each country. Partnership with this race, closely watched every year, seemed to be another logical step within the company’s corporate sponsorship strategy amplified by outstanding response we met with during the two editions of the Tour de France,” said Jaroslav Černý, Škoda Auto press spokesman. “We believe that thanks in part to our support of this sports performance, we will score more plus points in the area of the Škoda brand and product image on demanding European markets such as Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland or the Netherlands and Belgium,” Černý added.
