Supercharger
Supercharger - A mechanical means of increasing engine power output to increase air density. Superchargers utilize power from the crankshaft to compress the air.
The two main types of superchargers are the:
1). Roots blowers that mount atop the engine and the
2). Paxton-type that mounts on the engine's side.
Engines may incorporate multiple and or both superchargers and turbochargers.
