Schaeffler Group Again Partner of the AUDI Team at the DTM 2008

Test runs in Mugello, Italy

2008-03-25, HERZOGENAURACH -- The Schaeffler Group will again participate in the DTM 2008 as partner of AUDI. When the lights turn green for the season’s first race in Hockenheim on April 13, popular DTM champion Mattias Ekstroem will for the first time drive the new Red Bull A4 with the “LuK look” to defend his title. Mike Rockenfeller, who ranked 12th last year, will enter the race with last year’s car with a green INA diamond and a high level of motivation to finish with a high ranking.

As part of the first official test runs in Mugello, Italy, the drivers from Audi and Mercedes Benz met in order to test their capabilities. In light rain and on wet asphalt, Audi youngster Mike Rockenfeller was one of the first drivers on the track, whereas last year's champion Mattias Ekstroem took it slightly more slowly. After three days of test runs, the defending champion said, “With rain, sunshine and a drying track, we had all possible weather conditions during the three test days. These are great conditions to work in, since we can test all options."

Further test runs are planned in Ochersleben before the cars are officially presented to the public on the Koenigsalle in Duesseldorf on April 6, 2008. The season and its 10 races (five of which take place in Germany and the other five in the rest of Europe) traditionally begins in Hockenheim.

The Schaeffler Group, with its brands LuK, INA and FAG, has been supporting the AUDI motorsports team (which is defending its title in the driver and team classifications this year) at the DTM since 2006. Apart from the Formula 1 series, the DTM events undoubtedly belong to the highlights of the international racing calendar.
