A1GP Makes Commercial Appointments
17 March 2008, London, Great Britain – A1GP World Cup of Motorsport has appointed Octagon Worldwide, the global sales and marketing agency, to assist in the strategic development and co-ordination of commercial sales for the series. The operation will be based in Octagon’s London offices and members of the newly strengthened A1GP commercial team will work on a day to day basis with them.
The A1GP Commercial team cover all the parts of the world reporting to Scott Hollingsworth, Chief Commercial Officer & Regional CEO (Americas). New appointments to the team are Julian Cottam, General Manager for Commercial Development, and Tarek Mokbel, General Manager Commercial Development Asia Pacific. Cottam, who has been involved in the sport for over 25 years and worked with Prodrive and both McLaren and Renault F1 teams, will be based in London. He will be responsible for co-ordinating sales development and also work on finding new commercial partners for the series. Mokbel will manage sales development and partnerships across Asia Pacific region from the Singapore office. He has recently been working for Motorsport Asia and has also worked for Blackrock Sports Marketing on sponsorship acquisition for golf, rugby and motorsport.
A1GP South African office based Simon Robinson, who has worked for the series since 2005, in line with the regionalisation of the series is now General Manager Commercial Development Middle East and Africa, while Stewart Bain, who works from the London offices of both A1GP and Octagon, is General Manager Commercial Development Europe.
