Singapore Is the First Export Country for the Proton Persona

PROTON PERSONA CROSSES THE CAUSEWAY

Shah Alam, 4 October 2007 – Persona, PROTON's pride and joy, made its debut in the export market today with its launch in Singapore.

The PROTON Persona, which has been driving sales in the domestic market with more than 18,000 bookings since its launch on 15 August 2007 and about 6,000 deliveries to-date, will similarly be key in PROTON's export optimisation drive.

Singapore is one of PROTON's traditional export market, in which an average of over 1,000 Proton cars have been sold annually in the last three years. It is apt that the Republic is the first export market for this newest addition to PROTON's range of models.

"We are excited about introducing our new ‘star' in PROTON's stable to Singapore, which has lots of similarities with the Malaysian domestic market. We are therefore optimistic that the Persona will be the right car for the right market at the right price for our Singapore customers," said PROTON Holdings Bhd. Chairman, Dato' Mohammed Azlan Hashim, at the launch in Singapore.

"Just as the Persona has created excitement with its stylish exterior coupled with practical interior design, we are confident that it will drive into the hearts of many in Singapore. I'm sure the Persona's aerodynamic and advanced styling, enhanced by the elegant face design with exquisite front grille as well as stylish rear-end design, will turn heads on the roads in Singapore. "

PROTON has had a presence in Singapore since 1989, through an independent multi-franchise operator. Subsequently, PROTON Singapore was set up in 2003 to further improve operations and service level for its customers. Since 1989, more than 22,000 PROTON cars have been sold in Singapore.

Powered by the improved 1.6 Campro engine, the Persona holds promise of smooth drivability and ride comfort. It also boasts of fuel economy that is very competitive in the 1600 cc segment.

The introduction of the Persona in Singapore will also offer the customers more options with regard to high quality cars at competitive prices.
