Nissan Announces New Corporate Vice President
TOKYO, April 24, 2008 – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced the appointment of a new corporate vice president (CVP).
In support of the ongoing dealer restructuring in Japan, Nissan will appoint Fumiko Hayashi, former Chairman of the Representative Board of The Daiei, Inc., as an interim Corporate Vice President of Nissan Motor Company, starting May 1, 2008.
Hayashi will remain as CVP for two months pending her further appointment to become Representative President and Director of Tokyo Nissan Auto Sales Co., Ltd., as well as Director of Tonichi Carlife Group, Inc., subject to approval by the annual shareholders’ meeting of each company in June.
Commenting on the appointment, Nissan COO Toshiyuki Shiga said, ‘‘Ms. Hayashi has long been an active and valued member of the management team, contributing to the development of automobile sales industry and retail distribution industry. With the ongoing restructuring of our domestic dealer network, the performance of the metropolitan region is critical and Tokyo Nissan Auto Sales plays a significant role in those efforts. I am confident that Ms. Hayashi’s strong leadership will steer the project to success.”
