New portable navigation from Blaupunkt

June 2008 -- Right on time for the beginning of the heavier travel season in the summer and vacation months, Bosch subsidiary Blaupunkt now brings the new TravelPilot 300 PND (Portable Navigation Device) to market in two different versions. First, there's a version with access to navigation data in 21 countries in Western Europe, and then there's one that is capable of navigation in all the countries of Europe, which means more than forty countries in total.

Highlights:
· Super high-speed route calculation and reliable navigation
· Warnings of traffic congestion ahead even without active route guidance
· Music, video and image files provide for entertainment on the road
· Two attractive versions with different map offers

The data for both systems is stored on an "embedded flash" with 4 GB in the device. Except for the range of map material available, both devices are technically identical and, compared to other devices, sport many other features with high user benefits.

Driver assistance convenience with new features
The TravelPilot 300 can be quickly installed in any vehicle and the touch screen makes it easy to operate. In addition, it offers drivers five different route options and a variety of different functions for driver assistance. This includes features that are particularly useful to people who spend a lot of time behind the wheel and commuters, such as visual and acoustic warnings of speed limits, dynamic navigation and warnings of traffic congestion, even when route guidance is not activated, or the integrated Bluetooth function, which eliminates the need to purchase an expensive hands-free system, offers direct access to the cell phone book and makes it possible to conveniently dial the desired call number on the 4.3-inch color screen at any time.

An integrated light sensor also automatically switches the display from day to night mode. The adaptive speed profile takes the driver's individual driving habits into account and with off-map navigation, the device can also be used as a digital compass in areas that have not yet been digitized.

Entertainment you can see and hear on the road
The TravelPilot 300 also features a number of different multimedia abilities to provide for listening and viewing pleasure on the road. This includes a voice recorder for short voice messages and a Phrase Book in 18 freely combinable languages to quickly translate phrases in a variety of different subject areas. The device is also able to play back or load MP3/WMA music files and WMV video files from the internal memory or an SD card at any time. Digitally stored photos can be viewed on its display and there are also five video games already stored in the device – Sokoban, Solitaire, Sudoku and two puzzles.

Extensive range of standard features and easy battery replacement
Different to many devices, it's not necessary to purchase a power-supply cord, as this already comes included with the TravelPilot 300, along with a USB cable, which makes for an easy connection to the home computer. The TravelPilot's rechargeable battery also has a respectable life of up to five hours, which means it can be conveniently used for longer trips without having to connect it to the cigarette lighter. Another new feature: the rechargeable battery in this PND can now be easily changed by the user at any time. And that means it's no longer necessary to send in the device, which can be expensive as well as time-consuming – in a word: easy-to-use.
