Nissan Titan Racer Carl Renezeder Wins CORR Pro-4 Title
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 7, 2007) – Nissan Motorsports clinched another closed course off-road championship at the 2007 season finale of the Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) series with Carl Renezeder and his new-for-2007 Nissan Titan-bodied Pro-4 race truck. The Pro-4 Championship was won at the final stop of the CORR series, the brand new Las Vegas International Off Road Raceway in Primm, Nevada on November 3-4, 2007.
Renezeder clinched the CORR Pro-4 championship on the first day of competition in Primm, thanks to his season-long series of podium finishes in his four-wheel drive racing machine.
Pro-2 was also successful for Renezeder and his two-wheel drive Nissan Titan-bodied race truck, as he ended the 2007 CORR season third in the Pro-2 standings with a second-place finish in Round 13 and an 11th-place finish in Round 14. Renezeder’s successful Pro-2 season in included four wins, two second place finishes and one third place finish – just as many podium finishes as his championship 2006 CORR season.
“Once again, Nissan Motorsports and Carl Renezeder have demonstrated their dominance of closed-course off-road racing, and we could not be happier in celebrating Carl’s CORR Pro-4 Championship with our new Titan race truck,” said Nissan Motorsports Marketing and Operations Senior Manager Ron Stukenberg. “Between this championship for Carl and Chad Hord’s PRO Light Pickup championship in the Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR), there’s no doubt that Nissan Motorsports’ powerful engines and platforms, in combination with the teams’ incredible efforts, are the winning ticket.”
The CORR and WSORR points races are broadcast (tape delayed) on the SPEED Channel. Check local listings for times and dates.
Race Reports
It didn’t take long in Saturday’s Round 13 for Carl Renezeder to secure the Pro-4 Championship. His seventh place finish was more than enough to take the title by 22 points over the second-place contender.
There was a tight points race brewing in Pro-2, and as the dust settled from the finale, Renezeder was third in the 2007 Pro-2 competition, a mere 17 points behind the leader and three points behind the second-place finisher.
On Saturday’s Round 13 Pro-2 race, Renezeder started on the pole but was shuffled towards mid-pack as soon as the race started, necessitating a restart. Once the race resumed, Renezeder dove into the fight, grabbing second place and holding it throughout the run. Sunday’s Pro-2 Round 14 brought some additional bad luck to Renezeder, who flipped on lap seven of the 15-lap heat race. Incredibly, Renezeder returned to competition and finished 11th out of 19 entrants.
“What a great weekend for my team and Nissan Motorsports at the CORR season finale, winning the Pro-4 championship and coming in third in the Pro-2 championship in our Titan race trucks,” said Renezeder. “These championships are a salute to our strong Nissan Motorsports-supported race trucks, and I’m sure 2008 will be even more exciting!”
