As Seen and Heard on ESPN on ABC’s NASCAR Countdown from Texas Motor Speedway
November 4, 2007 -- The Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup continued Sunday, Nov. 4, at Texas Motor Speedway. Coverage of the event began at 3 p.m. ET with NASCAR Countdown. Brent Musburger and Suzy Kolber hosted NASCAR Countdown, with 1989 NASCAR champion Rusty Wallace and Brad Daugherty, a former winning team owner in the NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Some NASCAR Countdown highlights:
The battle between teammates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup championship
RUSTY WALLACE, ESPN ANALYST AND 1989 NASCAR CUP SERIES CHAMPION – “It may be a two-man race right now but if those guys make a mistake, that could lose them the championship. They’ve got such good teams. There’s so much depth in the Hendrick Motorsports team it’s unbelievable. Great engineering depth and good horsepower, and a lot of information. When they get behind, they go to their teammate.”
BRAD DAUGHERTY, ESPN ANALYST AND FORMER WINNING NASCAR TEAM OWNER – “What we’ve seen all year long is that whenever they make a mistake or something goes wrong, they always bounce back. My theory as they go into these last few races is that the guy who flinches first, who makes the biggest mistake, will lose this championship. I don’t necessarily think they’re going to outrun one another, I think whoever is mistake-free will win the trophy.”
ESPN2 had live coverage of Saturday’s NASCAR Busch Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.
On the obstacles Carl Edwards had to overcome trying to clinch the NASCAR Busch Series title in Saturday’s event at Texas:
DR. JERRY PUNCH, ESPN LEAD ANNOUNCER – “When you’re chasing a championship, crickets become dinosaurs.”
