2008 Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart

November 15, 2007 -- CYPRESS, Calif. -- The Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart spearheads the Galant mid-size sedan line, which for 2008 also includes the 4-cylinder DE and ES models. The GTS model is discontinued.

Galant Ralliart is a complete performance package, designed to challenge leading sport sedans, but with better value.

2008 Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart

It is exclusively powered by a 258-hp 3.8-liter MIVEC V-6 engine and equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic™ to allow manual gearshift control. The MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control) system helps optimize engine efficiency and power across a broad engine speed range. The Galant Ralliart can accelerate from zero-to-60 mph in about six seconds. Ralliart-tuned sport suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels yield sharp handling response, and this special model is distinguished by exclusive exterior styling and interior features.

Galant Ralliart offers the luxury of perforated leather-trimmed seating surfaces, heated front seats, automatic climate control system, power glass sunroof and auto dimming rear view mirror with Homelink™ transmitter. The standard Rockford Acoustic Design™ premium audio system includes SIRIUS Satellite Radio with a 6-month pre-paid subscription. The Galant Ralliart comes fully equipped, offering just one factory option, a DVD navigation system.

Externally, the Ralliart model is distinguished by a unique front aero bumper, sport mesh grille projector-style ellipsoid headlamps, two-tone bumpers and color-keyed side air dams.

The Galant DE and ES models are powered by a 160-hp 2.4-liter MIVEC 4-cylinder engine teamed to a four-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic. The 4-cylinder Galant models achieve EPA fuel mileage estimates of 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway.

The Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system with SIRIUS Satellite Radio is also available for the ES as part of that model's optional Sport Package.

A reflection of Mitsubishi's safety engineering, the Galant achieved across-the-board 5-star ratings in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) offset frontal and side impact crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded Galant its highest ranking - "Good" overall - in its frontal offset and side impact crash tests. All Galant models are equipped with standard side curtain air bags, advanced front air bags with occupant sensors and front seat-mounted side-impact air bags. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is standard on all Galant models, except the DE. In addition, all Galant models have a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
