Holden Cavalcade Hits Regional Australia
007-11-02 -- An extensive collection of GM Holden vehicles, including the latest iconic VE Ute, will tour regional Victoria and New South Wales throughout November as part of Holden’s Road Show.
Following an exciting year of new releases, Holden’s travelling road show will visit eleven rural dealers from Shepparton to Seymour to showcase a range of newly released vehicles.
In addition to the highly anticipated VE Ute, Holden’s Road Show will include the award winning VE Commodore, the luxurious WM Caprice, Holden’s all-wheel-drive Captiva, the powerful Rodeo turbo diesel and Holden’s new mid-size sedan, Epica.
Headlining the cavalcade will be the latest iconic model in a line-up that spans almost 60 years of Australian motoring, the VE Ute.
VE Ute is GM Holden's first completely new ute design since the VU series in 2000. It offers more features, more useable interior space, greater storage flexibility and more performance than any of its predecessors.
Reflecting the trend towards premium performance products, the newly introduced VE SS V Ute offers enthusiasts an exciting level of high-end performance, comfort and style.
It is powered by Holden's 6.0-litre Generation IV V8 engine which delivers 270kW of peak power and peak torque of 530Nm*, teamed with flagship six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.
VE Ute SV6 has the High Output Alloytec V6 engine matched with five-speed automatic transmission, 18-inch wheels and dual exhausts. Standard features include sports facias and sports suspension.
VE Commodore will join the Road Show representing the largest single automotive program in Australia’s history. A strong focus was placed on active and passive safety in the vehicle’s design with features such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) now standard on all models.
Since launch, Holden's VE range has won a host of accolades including Wheels Car of the Year, News Ltd's Car Of The Year, MOTOR's Bang For Your Bucks and Drive.com People's Choice Award.
On the luxury front, the top-of-the-range WM Caprice will be making the journey and delivering benchmark levels of build quality, ride refinement, safety and spacious comfort for locally built sedans. It also offers more differentiation from its short wheelbase siblings than ever before.
The Captiva, GM Holden’s first modern SUV-style offering in Australia offers customers a choice of five and seven seats to deliver a flexible and highly specified range that is proving an appealing choice in the medium and compact-sized SUV market.
Extensively tested in Australia, the Captivas included in this Road Show boast a new responsive and economical 2.0-litre common rail turbo diesel engine, compliant with Euro IV emission standards.
Available with a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission with Active Select, depending on model, Captiva Diesel is very fuel efficient, with the manual variant returning 7.6 litres per 100km and the automatic 8.6 litres per 100km (ADR81/01).
All models, petrol or diesel, feature the intelligent active all-wheel drive system found on the petrol variants and contributes to Captiva’s versatile appeal. It is fully integrated into the ESP® and ABS systems, improving vehicle control and active safety.
The powerful turbo diesel Rodeo also joins the Holden cavalcade and features several design enhancements, increased braked towing capability and a new five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission to manage the increased torque and retain a light shift feel.
This workhorse also boasts improved driver and passenger seating, new steering wheel, HVAC controls and interior trims, updated instrument clusters and interior side vents, plus redesigned transmission levers, making Rodeo an outstanding range representing great value for money.
The 3.0-litre VCDi common rail engine delivers 25 per cent more peak power while meeting strict new Euro IV emission requirements.
And last but not least, GM Holden’s new mid-size sedan, Epica, will also be on show with its generous interior space, excellent standard specifications and stylish fit and finish.
Epica is available in two variants (CDX and CDXi) with a choice of either a 2.0 or 2.5-litre in-line six cylinder engine, depending on model. Each delivers a refined and smooth ride and returns better fuel economy than some of the four-cylinder rivals in the mid-size sedan segment.
Epica’s impressive fuel economy (ADR081/01) is 8.2 litres/100km for the 2.0-litre manual variant and 9.3 litres/100km for the 2.5-litre automatic.
The Road Show will tour Holden dealerships and all cars will be registered and ready for test drives by interested local customers.
