2007-10-25 -- GM Holden has reaffirmed its commitment to Australian netball by backing the Australian Netball Team's bid to re-gain the world title at next month's New World Netball World Championships in Auckland.

GM Holden's Executive Director - Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, Mr Alan Batey told hundreds of netball supporters at today's Australian Team launch in Melbourne's Federation Square that Holden was proud to support Australia's quest to become the 2007 world champions.

"We are delighted to continue our support of Australian netball though the national team as they take on the leading nations at the forthcoming World Championships," Mr Batey said.

"GM Holden has been sponsoring the Australian national team's participation in the Holden Netball Test Series for the past four years, and continuing this support to include their quest to re-gain the World Championships is a logical extension.

"The Australian team has shown time and time again that they can match the best on the international stage and GM Holden is proud to back them in their quest to become the 2007 Netball World Champions," he said.

Netball Australia CEO, Kate Palmer said GM Holden's sponsorship was an important factor in preparing the Australian Team for success in Auckland.

"This sponsorship has enabled the team to undergo their best-ever preparation build-up for a world championship and we are delighted to have Holden on board the 'GO Aussie 2007' campaign," Ms Palmer said.

The Australian players were presented with their team uniforms by the Federal Minister for Sport, Senator the Hon. George Brandis and former Australian great, Shelley O'Donnell.
