Greg Tyus to Head Up Engineering at GM Holden
2007-10-04 -- Greg Tyus, has been confirmed today as Tony Hyde's successor as Executive Director, Engineering at GM Holden. Greg is currently General Director, Engineering & Product Planning at GM Canada.
This follows Tony Hyde's announcement on Tuesday that he planned to retire from GM Holden on 31 December 2007 after 39 years service with General Motors.
Greg will begin transitioning into his new position at Holden during November.
Tyus began his career with General Motors in 1979 as a cooperative student. He gained engineering experience in GM North America with a variety of assignments including Senior Project Engineer, Design Engineer and Assistant Staff Engineer until his appointment as Engineering Director, Closure Systems, in 2000.
From 2001 to 2003, he held engineering director positions in Body CAE as well as in Engineering Architecture & Speciality Vehicles. In 2004, he was appointed as Director, Chassis/Powertrain, HVAC, Electrical and Vehicle Assembly Engineering with GM Canada.
He held this position until 2005, when he was appointed to his current assignment as General Director, Engineering & Product Planning for the GM Canada Engineering Center.
Tyus holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University (formerly known as GMI) and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University.
