J. Christopher (Chris) Preuss named GM Europe Vice President, Communications

2007-12-05 -- Zurich - Effective February 1, 2008, J. Christopher Preuss, currently Executive Director of Global Product and Brand Communications for GM, is appointed GM Europe Vice President, Communications. He replaces Julie Hamp, who is leaving GM after 25 years to assume the communications leadership role at PepsiCo.

Chris Preuss, 41, will be responsible for the management of all internal and external communications activities for General Motors and its brands in Europe, including Chevrolet, Opel/Vauxhall and Saab.

In his new position, Chris will be based in Zurich, and will become a member of the European Strategy Board, led by Carl-Peter Forster, President of GM Europe. He also retains his duties as leader of global product communications including advanced technology, design, product development and motor shows.

Preuss joined GM as Director of Communications at Cadillac in 1998. In 2000, he was named Staff Director of Product Communications and in 2002, Staff Director of Advanced Technologies Communications. Prior to that, he worked in a variety of positions within Chrysler's communications department. He has also held positions with Golin Harris Communications, MS&L Communications and Campbell & Company Communications.
