General Motors of Canada Reports June 2008 Sales Results
Oshawa, Ontario, July 2, 2008 – For June 2008, General Motors of Canada dealers delivered 32,355 units, down 23.8% from a year ago.
“GM Canada's June sales reflected the significant ongoing market impact of rising gas prices and the resulting further consumer shift toward cars and smaller crossovers,” said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada’s vice-president of sales, service, and marketing. “GM is shifting production and adjusting on the ground inventories to address demand for our hot selling fuel efficient cars like the Pontiac Wave and G5, the Saturn Astra and Aura, the Chevrolet Aveo, Malibu and our own Oshawa built Chevrolet Impala, which all performed exceptionally well in June.”
Comeau added, “While we work to adjust inventories, GM is very well positioned in the Canadian market with the broadest range of vehicles that achieve better than 7L/100 km on the highway and by the end of this year we will have more hybrid models in the market than any other automaker."
June Sales Highlights
