Select Group of Suppliers Gains General Motors' Recognition

Honored for Outstanding Performance in 2007

2008-01-17, DETROIT - Surrounded by an array of General Motors vehicles on the floor of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) including the 2008 Chevy Malibu, North American Car of the Year, GM recognized 12 suppliers for their contributions and performance in 2007.

The suppliers were Alpine Electronics, Inc.; Autoliv Inc.; Barton Malow Company; Burke E. Porter Machinery Company; Eaton Corporation; Höegh Autoliners AS; Jack Cooper Transport Co. Inc.; Magna Car Top Systems GmbH; Methode Electronics, Inc.; Seyen Alloy Wheel N.A., and Wellington Industries. Chemico Systems, Inc. received an Environmental Excellence Award.

“These suppliers represent a select group that make a strong contribution to the success of General Motors,” said Bo Andersson, GM group vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “As GM prepares to celebrate its 100th birthday, we want to recognize the important role our supply base has played in our past and how, by working together, we will ensure our mutual success going forward.

“GM’s direction is clear – to be the best,” he added. “In order for GM to be the best, our global supply base must also be the best.”

The event marked the 7th year that GM has presented supplier recognition awards in conjunction with the NAIAS. The awards focused on the supplier’s total performance and included such criteria as quality, cost and delivery as well as contributions to the company’s products.

Andersson and Jim Queen, GM group vice president, Global Engineering, handed out the awards.

Chemico Systems received its environmental honor from Elizabeth Lowery, GM vice president, Environmental, Energy and Safety Policy.
