GM Holden Predicts Major 'Growth' in Movember
2007-10-26 -- GM Holden is predicting a major period of growth in November as a flurry of moustaches sprout on the faces of employees in support of this year's Movember campaign.
GM Holden has come on board as a major sponsor of this Australian charity which challenges clean shaven men to grow a moustache in the month of November to raise awareness and money for male health issues.
This year, across Australia, these 'Citizens of Movember' - the 'Mo Bros' (guys who grow a Mo) and 'Mo Sistas' (girls that support their guys) - will aim to top the $6.5 million raised in 2006 to aid prostate cancer causes through the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and male depression through beyondblue.
As part of its support, Holden has donated two vehicles to fundraisers which Movember participants will have a chance to win. A top of the range Holden VE Ute SSV (RRP $44,990 or auto $46,990 excluding government charges and dealer delivery) will be given away via a prize draw open to Mo Bros raising over $50 in sponsorship online. A Holden Astra CD worth $19,990 (excluding government charges and dealer delivery) will be given away to the Mo Sista that shows the ultimate support of her Mo Bro or Movember.
Alan Batey, GM Holden Executive Director - Sales and Marketing explained why GM Holden has been mo-tivated to join the campaign.
"This seemed like a great charity to get behind as it has grown from a simple innovative idea by a group of knockabout Aussie blokes, into a major fundraising initiative which has captured the public's imagination and has gone on to raise millions in the last three years for men's health.
"We're gearing up to play our own part at Holden in the month of Movember and we'll be encouraging employees, dealers and all our partners - including the automotive media - to play their part in promoting some very healthy growth across all areas of the Australian automotive industry.
"Hopefully the chance to win a new VE Ute or an Astra will also be a motivating factor to get more people across Australia involved in the fundraising and in the process raise a wider awareness of the important men's health issues of prostate cancer and depression."
GM Holden is a proud supporter of a number of community partners working across four key focus areas: Environment, Community Safety, Local Communities and Technology, Innovation and Education.
