Geely Shares Company’s Rescue Situation in Earthquake Disaster Areas in Sichuan

May 26, 2008 -- The spokesman of Geely Group issued a statement to the media regarding the company’s series of ongoing relief operations after the major earthquake disaster in Sichuan. The spokesman pointed out that through sufficient propaganda, Geely Group advocated the cadres, employees and suppliers, distributors, service providers to help the peoples in the disaster areas after the disaster occurred.

The series rescue and relief activities have being moved into top gear in the head quarter of Geely Group, each production base, distributors, the suppliers and service providers in locals. The relief activities of Geely Group are mainly composed with capital donation, blood donation and vehicles contribution.

The spokesman said that on the day of earthquake occurring, Li Shufu and Yang Jian, Directors of Geely Group rang up to Sichuan to know the earthquake situation and conveyed the sympathy of the company and its staff. They also made a decision instantly to denote partial vehicles used in rescue activities in quake-hit areas. The automobiles distributors of Geely in Xiwu，Chendu，also organized a transport team and rushed to the frontline of disaster areas. At the same time, from 14th May, Geely Group and each production base have jointly organized the staff to denote the blood for the injured victims in the quake-hit areas, which is continuing in progress.

The spokesman also said that in the critical moment of the whole country in response to the calling of Party Central Committee and State Council to striving for the tensioned disaster relief and rescue with one heart and one mind. On 14th of May, Geely Group together with distributors, suppliers, service providers and staffs pledged the initial donation of RMB 10 million to victims in quake-hit areas, RMB 1.2 million of which was denoted by Li Shufu. Say the ‘initial donation’ means that under the development and in-depth of disaster relief work, Geely Group will contribute further relief aids to help the victims.

The spokesman also expressed the further relief and rescue measurements will be carried out including the launch of ‘Geely Future Talents Foundation’ and the ‘Li Shufu Education Foundation’ to provide chances for the students in the quake-hit areas to be trained and educated in Zhejiang Automobile Technical College. Since the establishment of ‘Geely Future Talent Foundation’, it has actively involved itself in over years to cultivate amount of teenagers, who were dropped out the study due to the family poverty, however, those teenagers have become the qualified talents with ideal, knowledge and skills, some of whom even become backbone specialists and get good reputation from whole society.

We trust the launch of the ‘Geely Future Talent Foundation’ and ‘Li Shufu Education Foundation’, only for the students in the quake-hit areas, will not only make great contribution to the affected families especially for their children, but also cultivate more needed talents for the society.
