Geely Group Made Initial Donation of RMB 10 Million to China Earthquake Disaster Areas

May 26, 2008 -- In 2008, China was tested a lot. On 12th May, the serious earthquake was occurred in Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province, which shocked the whole nation. Thousands of Collapsed houses and immerged lives were occurred in one moment. As of 7:00 pm of 13th, May, 12,012 people dead, 9,404 people were buried and 7,841 people missed.

The pains of blood and tears, the disaster of death and life; mourn and pray the peace for the death and the lives. While facing to the miserable disaster, we shall have one mind and one heart to overcome difficulties instead of just in the endless sorrow. As well to assist the recovery of the quake-hit area is the responsibilities for everybody.

Hearing the grievous news, Geely Group held a special meeting to allocate the specific work to implement the donation plan of vehicles, money and blood.
On 14th of May, Geely Group entrusted a distributor in Chengdu municipality to donate a Geely KingKong as an ambulance car for disaster area.

At the same day, Geely Group, together with distributors, suppliers and all the staff, donated initial capital of RMB 10 million to China Charity Commission. Meanwhile, the donation program of money and blood have being moved into top gear in Hangzhou, the head-quarter of Geely Group, and other production bases in Ningbo, Linhai, Luqiao, Shanghai, Xiangtan and Lanzhou.

‘Many hands make light work’, although the donation of Geely Group is just a humble effort to disaster area, compared with the demand in the disaster area. The group will continually make further effort and action according to the latest situation.

The earthquake in Sichuan struck the attention of Geely Group. Today, Geely Group made a decision to donate the initial capital of RMB 10 million to disaster area, and advocate the distributors, suppliers and all staff of Geely Group to donate blood, money and aid to disaster area.

On the staff donation activities organized by Geely Group, the staff donations are actively, which shows the deepest emotion from the staff of Geely Group to the victims in disaster area, during the process, Li Shufu donated RMB 1.2 million. The leader of Zhejiang Office of Sichuan Province in accepted the donation and displayed the much appreciation and gratitude to the company’s benevolence support to reconstruction and recovery work of disaster area.

Today, on the scene of donation activities, Yang Jian, President of Geely Group, pointed out that Geely Group, together with her distributors, suppliers and all staff of the group donated first batch capital of over RMB 10 million. He also said Geely Group will continually concern the recovery and reconstruction of disaster area. In order to return for the society’s support to the Geely Group, more various ways will be adopted to express the group’s deepest sympathy to the victims in disaster area.
