Special Editions Turn Ford's Latest Small Cars into Best Sellers
BRENTWOOD, Essex, 17 December, 2007 – Britain's best-selling small cars, the Ford Fiesta, Ford Fusion and Ford Ka, continue to top the sales charts boosted by an exciting line up of special editions during 2007 and a new edition to lead the sales charge into 2008.
Highlights:
* Total of 5,800 small car special editions
* Four Ford Fiesta special editions: Silver, Zetec S 30 th Anniversary, Zetec S Celebration
* Zetec Blue special edition just released
* Ford Fusion Pursuit
* Two Tone Ford Ka just released
The 2007 line-up began with Ford Fiesta Silver, a three door special with £550 of extras included in the £9,295 price tag. With a choice of three engines and three new colours it was a great way to start the New Year with 3,500 sold this year.
Next came Ford Fiesta Zetec S 30 th Anniversary, a radian yellow, chequered roof, head-turner. Just 400 models were introduced to Britain at £12,595, including £1,400 worth of extra equipment. They are sold out.
The success of the Zetec S 30 th Anniversary encouraged the Ford Fiesta marketing team to introduce Celebration – 400 striking green models with the chequered roof and sporting look. Within two months of going on sale at £12,595, nearly half of them are already sold.
The latest special edition, Ford Fiesta Zetec Blue is based on a Style Climate model. Zetec Blue costs £200 more although its comprehensive list of standard features would normally add another £800 to the price.
To date this year, Ford Fiesta is Britain's best-selling small car with 98,891 sold.
A steadfast sibling in the Ford small car line-up is Ford Fusion which accounts for 15 per cent of its segment. The strong styling and extra equipment on 500 Pursuit special editions added to its appeal with 12,311 total sales so far this year.
The Ford Ka is always reinventing itself and 2007 ends with the Ford Ka Two-Tone. This exciting limited edition is available as a Style Climate or Zetec Climate with four body colours including the new blazer blue. The exterior colour palette combines with moondust silver bumpers and mirror housings for a retro look. 1,000 models hit the showrooms in November.
Ford Ka has recorded 25,427 sales so far this year – almost 10,000 more than its nearest competitor.
Note: Sales figures are year-to-date to mid-December 2007.
